Please forgive my ignorance, but what is Kev's mod?

@johan has it on his bike and says it helps - he does a lot of miles in London traffic so lots of start stop riding - my riding profile largely avoids urban areas so I don't perceive a problem in this area
 
Before you splash out on a hardware solution, try adjusting the CO settings in the bike's menu as described here

Just came across an interesting video on the diag menu for the R1, if we have the same system it opens up the amount of information we can get from this rather tricky machine.  Whatcha think?

As with all these things you get used to it and adjust. I can barely remember now, but at the time I did feel it made a difference.

I tweaked my CO settings to _14 for each cylinder - I think it helps a bit on low throttle opening e.g. where you close the throttle momentarily to allow traffic to clear at a junction and open it to pull away slowly.
