Premium Member foxedupone Posted June 6, 2016 Author Premium Member Share Posted June 6, 2016 Did some dirt / gravel road testing and then a monsoon hit so really got to try them out on slick flooded dirt roads as well. Tires did great working with the bikes tcs and abs trying to manage the loose surfaces. As long as you remember this is a 400+ lbs bike and not a 250cc dirtbike seems to handle as well as I'd want on roads like this if riding at a sane speeds for the loose conditions and heavy bike. Only thing that was a bit scary is on my parents long farm driveway fresh gravel was just put down and it got pretty squirley plowing through that up and down hills and curves. But that's the nature of deep gravel on any bike. Still it handles it if you just relax, give it some throttle let the bike move around a bit and try to keep the front tire pointed straight on your path. Still it feels a bit weird and makes you want to tense up.
docsimple
i just mounted a rear but have yet to do the front. You like the pair? I'm pretty sure that a front is on my "too do" list but never hurts to ask more importantly does the front hold as well as the rear does? The stock sucks on mud! 2015 Red FJ 09 2013 WR250R - little boy blue - sold 2012 DL650 V Strom - sold 2007 FZ6 - sold 1986 FJ600 - sold
Premium Member foxedupone Posted June 15, 2016 Author Premium Member Share Posted June 15, 2016 Yeah seems great paired with the front tire as well as a set. I by no means pushed it too much on the loose surfaces yet but yeah the stock tire in mud I would not want to experience. This beefy tread should at least grab onto something at all the edges that go across the tires contact patches. On dry and wet paved roads just feel like great touring tires with grip everywhere for many miles hopefully. TKC 70 is out now will be curious to try those next time it's time for tires on this bike as they seem like the same idea as this tire. Their front tire looks even more off roadish.
