madsquabbles
Picked up a used gps unit to help me with my cross county road trip coming up. It's a garmin 7" and is not waterproof. I am wanting to use a ram mount and was considering maybe tossing a dry bag of some sort over it if needed?? Thoughts? Also I have seen tank bags that have gps areas in them and wandering if anyone has used one on the fj? I do have a marsee tank bag with a clear map pocket but have not used it on the fj yet. Open to suggestions and ideas. Thanks in advance.
madsquabbles
I've seen several riders using their non-waterproof gps in cheap mounts like this and apparently they do the job http://www.ebay.com/itm/Waterproof-Bicycle-Motorcycle-handlebar-Mount-Case-F-4-3-Garmin-Nuvi-GPS-/390810885513?hash=item5afe24dd89:g:ae8AAOxyCGNTOi-W Be careful of electronics in map pockets. Some can act like a magnifier and heat may build up quickly. Oh I do like that style but gps is little too large (but I will look around). good call on the heat issue I never considered that. zachd
I'd say this has been beaten to absolute death on this forum: http://fj-09.org/thread/660/tank-bag-ideas
