Premium Member peporter Posted May 8, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted May 8, 2016 Okay gang, someone please tell this idiot how to get the lock barrels into the side cases. What brand are they? If all else fails, take them and the bags to a locksmith.
sdb
They're Yamaha cases, the locks came along with the bags uninstalled.
haplo90
You need to remove the latch portion by removing the screws holding it to the rest of the cylinder. I believe it's two small screws, torx head. Remove them, slide the cylinder through the case hole, re-attach the latch on the other side. I recommend placing a bit of loctite on the screws, I've heard they can come loose easily. rgmatt
Not only are they torx bits, they are "tamper proof" torx which means you need a special tool that has a small hole in the middle of the torx because there is a small pin in the nut.
