cthruu
1-31-2015 [span] [/span]While almost everyone north of Texas and east of California sits around trying to hash out what the best OTD price they can get, us poor saps that paid too much for our bikes have to figure out a way to get over it. I decided to go for a little 370 mile ride today. Started out in Redding, Ca and ended in Redding. Total ride time- almost 9 hours. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B06EnPBVBAvkWWNXcFBaT3UycGs/view?usp=sharing First have to start out with this: http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r211/C_THRU_U/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/20150131_112944.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r211/C_THRU_U/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/20150131_121829.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r211/C_THRU_U/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/20150131_124125.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r211/C_THRU_U/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/20150131_141733.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r211/C_THRU_U/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/20150131_131832.jpg I could go into a lot of detail about Hwy 36 here in Cali but the guys over on the Pashnit website already did an awesome write up on it. They have a great website and forum that you need to check out. http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway36.htm Once I got to Fortuna- it was time to head to the coast: http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r211/C_THRU_U/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/20150131_154721.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r211/C_THRU_U/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/20150131_154813.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r211/C_THRU_U/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/20150131_154910.jpg Unfortunately I was losing the sun so this will have to wait until next time (brownie points to who can name this hwy) http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r211/C_THRU_U/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/20150131_153350.jpg After this it was into Eureka for a Starbucks and some food before heading back to Redding on hwy 299 http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r211/C_THRU_U/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/20150131_171813.jpg A few as the sun was setting: http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r211/C_THRU_U/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/20150131_172426.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r211/C_THRU_U/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/20150131_172435.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r211/C_THRU_U/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/20150131_172440.jpg This is where I have to make an observation- The headlights on the fj-09 rock! The last 100 or so miles where in the dark. Also, I averaged 53 mpg over the 370 miles. After a full day of riding I feel good. The fj is a comfortable ride. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r211/C_THRU_U/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/20150123_184719.jpg 2015 FJ-09 2004 KTM
FigJam-OhNine
To quote my dealer, "you're the first one to buy one, so we want to make sure you leave happy, but why would we lower the price for anyone else when we know they'll sell out?" This was after they knocked a few hundred off the price and gave me cost + 10% on any accessory I wanted to buy within the first few weeks. They also let me pay with a credit card, which they normally never do. That, plus Yamaha Canada has great winter promos since most of Canada is covered in snow (free extended warranty and side bags). The weather isn't that bad here on the island, but bikes still don't really sell this time of year. Come spring, good luck finding what you want in the colour you want. Long story short, I don't feel like I paid too much for my bike at all. Plus, with the surprisingly spring like winter we've had, I feel like I stole a couple bonus months as well. I didn't have a ride like you today, but I put about 120kms on it. Can't argue with life out west! Only 230km more to go and I'll take it for its first 1000km service. zvez
agree with you, rather than worry about getting the best price or waiting til the end of year after riding season is over to get "the best deal" better to be riding the whole whether you paid msrp got 500 or 1k off. Most people piss away tht amount on lattes over the course of a year. YOu can' put a price therapy which is what MC riding is!

A16 aka "ditchgrade" is the road I take my streetbike buddies on when they start thinking they know how to ride. Its supermotard heaven. My dealer "prescribes" his new bike owners to ride it because it is a good road for break-in. I road it the first day I got the bike. 2015 FJ-09 2004 KTM
