robosquid
Hi folks. I bought the side cases and the set of locks for them, but can't for the life of me figure out how to install the locks. Has anyone done this? Thanks, David
madsquabbles
I did the same. Hard to describe but the little bar comes off by removing the security torx screws. Remove the two screws and place the tumbler (round cylinder) into the slot on the case. It will only fit one way. Reinstall the bar and you are done. The only thing you have to pay attention to is the direction the bar goes on as you can get it backwards. Takes like no time at all. Also on side note it's super not hard at all to key the ignition key to the lock set on the cases. Trust me if I can do it anyone can.
robosquid
Thank you! I suspected that might be it, but since I didn't have the security torx bit I was hoping for a different answer. I'll see if I can get them at my hardware store. Thanks again!
madsquabbles
I ended up buying a small cheap set of security bits at an automobile parts store. Never really had need for those except now.
robosquid
I got my security torx bit set in the mail today and installed the locks. It is amazing how easy things are when you have the right tools. I think I've learned that lesson several times over the years.
tex929rr
Based on some info in another thread I purchased a set from Yamaha Canada that allows you to key everything to the ignition key. Well worth the $34.95. Part number is 59C-281C0-0000 ordered from: http://kellyscyclecentre.com/
