redbuell
Thinking about buying an FJ-09 or a Hyperstrada. What is the recommended interval for valve adjustment on the FJ ?

crempel
I did exactly that. Had a 06 Ulysses. Don't regret the decision at all although I sure liked the Buell. Wish I could have kept both but couldn't. Uly had better suspension, but that was the only significant advantage I can think of.
redbuell
Thanks for the input. The things I want to get away from on the Ully are tall seat height and the vibration in the foot pegs and the bars. I'm afraid I'll miss the torque though. I'm doing some test rides in Sept. crempel
You won't miss the torque. I promise. The FJ motor is superior in every way to the Uly. IMHO, the Uly only felt torquey because of no top end. I was always of the opinion that the worst thing about the Buell was the engine. Great chassis, suspension, crap 500 year old engine. Thing roasted me to death on a hot day. Pinged on even warm days if pushed at all. Boiled the gas in the frame on warm days. No, the FJ is a thoroughly modern motorcycle. crempel
BTW, don't stop comparing cost of ownership between a Yamaha, or any Japanese bike, and a Ducati at valve clearance interval. That's only the beginning.
