Two days ago I rode for the first time my new (to me) lava red 2016 Tracer.

I'm still amazed and simply can't wait for the next ride (unfortunately we still have to wait 2-3 weeks for +10C/+50F).

I'm a transplant here. A coworker says there was a lot of mining in the area back in the day. Idaho City still looks like an old western town. Dirt streets, wooden sidewalks and old western style storefronts. Also, a lot of people are packing.

On the google map attachment you can see a popular ride here called "the loop". Keep heading north to Lowman, head over to Garden Valley and back down to Boise or wherever you started from. No loop yesterday. Elevation climbs to 6k on the way to Lowman. Roads are icy in places and sketchy. Rode it last year when we first moved here. Puckered me up a bit.

You live in a great area for riding. Highways 20&26 are great. I particularly like the stretch over to John Day. I've looked at the route to Idaho City, but never got a chance to ride it. Looks great!

Here we've had a mild warm up. I got the FJ09 out for about 100 miles the other day to pick up some carbs for my BMW project. Figured why not ride?

Seeing as it's a pic thread - one carb mounted -

Lots of good roads that way that I haven't explored yet. Nice bike!

Weather was too good yesterday so had to do a short ~200kms road trip into the hills near where I call home.

Stopped for a light snack and coffee at a little place called Witta.  The outlook on the veranda overlooks the type of hills that are all along the ride path. I'm a happy chappie. 😁

Thank you for that uplifting image @texscottyd. A little different around my parts... but could not pass up on a ride today. Beautiful afternoon, albeit just below nothing Celsius. Thankfully, heated gear works well.

Today was about the perfect riding day:  Beautiful clear blue skies, about 55 F degrees when I left the house mid-morning, and low 70s along the coast by mid-afternoon.

The trees are largely still bare from the deep freeze a few weeks back, but hopefully things will start turning green again soon.  Look at that sky, however!

All the pics look like sunny, warm areas. I'm jealous! I did get out for a short rip today. Ran up to the "real gas" station about 20 miles from me. Looped back and got the bike washed. Busy day at the wash bays. Two other bikes pulled up - a R6 and a Panigale.  Temps were between 55-60, so a nice day for March in Wisconsin, that's for sure.

Glam-shot by the ski hill situated behind our sub-division

It's a great bike, very different - sporty- compared to my last one (a 2005 Yamaha TDM 900 - I know it wasn't sold in North America, but it is supposed to be the predecessor of the Tracers, as the TDM 850 was the first crossover bike back at the beginnings of the 90's).  I was amazed by how light it felt (the Tracer is about 20 kg/ 44 lbs lighter) and how easy it would flick around corners (17' vs 18' front wheel and a shorter wheelbase).

For now I'm glad I chose the Tracer against an FJR (gen II). I previously owned two (a 2003 gen I and a 2007 gen II) and it was a great bike for long highway rides, but it was heavy and not very fast around bendy roads. I think the Tracer is a better option for me as I exclusively ride solo and the roads around me are the curvy type. My only concern is around the reliability as I hope the Tracer will prove in time to be as good as the FJR and the TDM (there are plenty of both models 100k+ miles problem free).
