Cruise control problems, Brandon Distribution

Does anyone know if the is a way to reset the software and start over?
I have mashed on so many buttons I'm afraid to turn it on again.

On my first test ride, turned it on and pressed the set button.  The bike accelerated from 70 to about 75 instantly, was not expecting that the first time.  After the busrt of speed had to get back on the accelerator to avoid being run over, it will not cruise. I repeated this process several times with the same results. Then I attempted to change INIT and Gain with out understanding what need to be done to make this work ( I still don't know).

Anybody want to buy a doorstop?

I have. All 4 wires are where they should be.

Did you get your Cruise problems sorted out?
I have factory heated grips auxillary running lights with a relay, louder horn. Will any of this affect the cruise working correctly?

I'm waiting for my free cruise control replacement from Brandon Dist. My bike was shutting off the throttle with a code 59. Thinking it was an issues with the bike I wasted time and money at the Yamaha dealer only to isolate the issue with the cruise control. My code 59 situation was very dangerous as I was in the center lane of the interstate when the throttle cut out on code 59. It's like the kill switch took the bike out and I barley made it to the side of the busy interstate. My cruise control worked perfect right out of the box. Then I noticed it wasn't taking commands for cruise and resume. Turning the cruise on and off seemed to get me going again. This then led up to the bike dying and going to code 59 which is a throttle position sensor error.
Joe at Brandon Dist. was straight up with me and told me to immediatley disconnect the unit from the bike. I was instructed to mail it in and a replacement would be sent out. Turn around is about 10 days as I'm expecting delivery this Monday.
I have put over 600 miles on the bike with the cruise removed and have not had a code 59 since.
The number I called is 877-402-3944 and Joe was an excellent contact person. Since the green light is so lame and barley visable in the daylight, perhaps there are more of us out there with buttons not responding. As far as accelerating to 75mph it sounds like a resume previous speed button or command and not a set cruise selection.

A bike shutting down on the interstate is scary.  Hopefully the new unit will solve the problem.  Keep all of us updated.

Well, I got my replacement cruise control back. BUT, after looking at it I discovered it was not a new replacement. Rather, it was my original control and cut up harness:(
Confused, I call Brandon Dist and talked to their tech. He said my harness checked out fine and the control module is new. I told him this is my original cruise module because I scratched a small X on the body of mine for just this very reason. When I asked, "how is it the you knew to sctatch and X in the exact same spot as I did? " Then the tune changed to, " I went over your unit completly and corrected a short." I sure lost a lot of respect at that point in the conversation. I suspect they did not have any replacemnts?
To be fair, I have tested the repaired unit and it works great. I don't have the courage to go on the interstate until I get some more testing time.
Just wanted to share.

Not even close to being sorted out.  I PM'd Crusin before I even started this thread, no reply. Only other option I have left if to call Brandon Distribution.

Definately call Brandon Distribution for tech support on this product. I was helping them sell on here at first to help them get going and to help people here get a good deal on a cruise control unit. Brandon Distribution builds these units and handles all tech support and warranty issues.

I am no longer helping them sell these. While there are many who have installed these and had no issues at all, too many have had issues with this unit for me to want to be selling these. I'm not saying that the unit is bad, it's great. Smae unit that is used on cars and bikes all over the world, rebranded. But cruise depends on signals being sent and received thru different points, and things like aftermarket levers, switches and tail lights that myself or Brandon dist has no control over.
Then mix in human error. I have no control over knowing if the customer has properly adjusted their levers. Or installed it correctly. Too many variables that create headaches.

Therefore I am no longer helping Joe sell these units. I fully recommend that he starts up a dealer program with qualified installers all over the country and then only sell these to those qualified installing shops, and let them sell and install these. To me, that will be the best way to go from here.

Brandon Dist phone number is 1-877-402-3944. Joe is the owner, the sole distributer of the cruise control module in the USA. He then makes wiring harnesses for each model of bike and programs the units for each bike.

Joe is a good guy, an honest man. He goes to great lengths to help ea and every customer. I am sure that he can help you.

Dont use PM for important matters. I am not on here 24/7. I work a 60 hour a week day job and get 20 pm's per day from the four forums that I manage, the most common being "how do I post pics"? Not all pm's get read and responded to in a timely manner.

Call the manufacturer, Brandon Dist 1-877-402-3944. I helped Joe with a few preorders this past spring but no longer have anything to do with their business.

I'm very close to ordering one for my FZ and just back off when I read these reports. I'm wondering if anyone has fitted the cruise unit with an aftermarket tail light, as I have the Blaster-X?

I would not order a cruise unit if you have used aftermarket taillights. I also do not recommend it for bikes with aftermarket brake or clutch levers.

There is no way Joe can test this unit for every type of taillight, brake light, or lever switch.

Why would a lever have an effect on this? Isn't it electrical? Also, why would an aftermarket taillight affect it? A signal is a signal regardless of where it's going (aftermarket or oem light).
