Mechanical Issues Halting Purchase

I had a 2013 Vstrom 650. The stator burned two weeks out from the first year warranty expiry and Suzuki said not their problem. So I had to replace the r/r and stator. And since then, every year, it happened like clockwork in Aug/Sept. I got stranded quite a few times in the cold. No fun. After three years and 40K miles on it, I sold it. That was costing me 500 bucks each time, including labor, but above all lack of confidence in the bike starting up every time or running out of juice in DC traffic.
 
24K miles on the FJ 09 so far. This month will be the one year anniversary. Other than the CCT thing replaced(didn't have any problems to begin with...but why not), its only been oil, tire, chain and sprockets. I should maybe replace air filter and plugs soon...maybe :P
