phpaul
I'm about to take the bike up for the handlebar recall. Again. If they screw it up this time, it may not end well. Have lawyers and bail money on standby...

Premium Member martyl Posted May 15, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted May 15, 2017 Forums do carry weight and influence both good and sometimes bad. To the bad or good dealership experiences whom are members protecting? Owners want the service done correctly, even more so when it concerns safety. Why not post the name and address of the dealership with the tale of the experience good or bad on the forum and forward it to Yamaha? This is a big recall and has effected many FJ09 owners. IMHO it's very unfortunate that owners even have to worry that the,"fix" maybe done incorrectly and more so, create a safety concern because the dealership was neglectful. Emphasis on the BOTH good and bad. I'm sure there is a dealership somewhere that does good work. '15 FJ09
phpaul
Well, fortunately for all concerned, it went well. In and out in under an hour, bars put back in precisely the position they were delivered in, everything looks good. Just by way of reminder for those that may have missed the earlier thread, I had made a previous appointment to have this done and the kid that took the message dropped the ball. When I showed up for the first appointment, nobody knew anything about it: No appointment, no parts, no joy.

DMan
In regards to calling out good and bad dealers by name in the interest of improving customer service, I'd be interested in hearing of good and bad experiences with dealers in the Phoenix, AZ, USA area. Just acquired a 2015 Fj09 from RideNow in Goodyear, AZ and would like to find a local dealer I can trust. The sales experience left me with a very bad taste in my mouth, and when I drove the bike off the lot I discovered that the bars were loose. They'd done the riser recall but forgot to torque the bolts. To be fair, the salesman (Ryan) himself was awesome but his manager was NOT. He fought me over one of the terms of the sale, which was that they provide me with a factory owner's manual. For such a simple request they ended up alienating me from being a future customer or recommending them to friends, and the loose handlebars only reinforced that. I would ask the sales manager for a recomendation , seriously though someone should take away that guys tools before he hurts somebody.
