Guest
Seems Yamaha is releasing the '18s in stages this year. First the new touring bike, then the sport tourers ect. and lastly the supersports and hyper sports. The new '18 FJR and Super Tenere (both same as '17) are up on Yamaha's website but still only the '17 FJ-09. Maybe some revisions coming for '18? koth442
Honestly I kind of doubt it. Judging by the wide number of brand new 2015's still available, I don't see Yamaha putting a lot time / effort into this bike. '15 FJ09

You can still find 2015's on dealers floors (or they can get you one with little effort) and at bargain prices on Cycle Trader, there are several listed for under $7K - Brand New. ***2015 Candy Red FJ-09***

Worked for me, I got my brand new '15 for sub 8k. BUT sad because it is such a great bike. '15 FJ09

hpclayto
Where are you all finding these 15's so cheap? The cheapest one I've found around me is $8700.

My only issue is I haven't had much interest in my FZ 07 I've been trying to sell so I was planning on trading it in.

tekwarren
Here in MI when I started looking for the FJ09 (spring this year) there were not many to be had. I had 2 dealers with a few hundred miles of me that each had one. There was a 2015 still crated in a warehouse somewhere and the 2016 that I ended up purchasing...not a 2017 to be had without trying to order. My "local" dealer said they had an early model that sat for way too long and they wouldn't keep another one on the floor without a customer order and guaranteed purchase. While my 2016 was marked down they also used the availability somewhat against me and would bunch on the price any more.
Guest
This is sad commentary on a great bike. Yet in Europe they sell well. Guess the same is true for some other decent bikes too like the Ninja 1000 and was true for the old Triumph Sprint. Sell well in Europe but not here. Are we that daft over here and just don't get it? I know from personal experience that the FJ=09 is a great bike and more fun to own than the Duc or Beemer.
Premium Member keithu Posted October 5, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted October 5, 2017 I think it's somewhere regional. The FJ-09 seems to sell pretty well here in Oregon. I see them regularly on the road, I've seen two other FJs parked at my work, and the dealer where I bought mine seems to have sold through a couple dozen FJ-09s based on what I see on their website. I won't say they're as common as Subarus or hipsters in Oregon, but the FJ-09 seems to sell well here.
Premium Member keithu Posted October 6, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted October 6, 2017 I own a Subaru (built like a tank) and the FJ... hmm, Oregon, eh? Do you also shoot film, churn your own butter, and sport a beard at least 9" long?
koth442
Do you also shoot film, churn your own butter, and sport a beard at least 9" long? Don't forget drinking the worst craft beer you can find, because anything that tastes good is "too mainstream". '15 FJ09
