Premium Member ULEWZ Posted February 22, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted February 22, 2015 What is the recommended weight/type/brand of oil for the FJ 09 and what else have others used?Mother Yamaha recommends the following Yamalube oil and viscosities: 10W-30 10W-40 10W-50 15W-40 20W-40 20W-50 2.85 quarts with filter Here is the contentious part: I use Mobil 1 10W-30 Others use the cheaper Shell Rotella T oil. I do not like the shifting properties I get with the Rotella T, but others have great luck with it. This is a great oil, just shifts clunky for me in all my bikes I have used it in from dirt bikes to street bikes. As always, YMMV. I had to make a flexible extension out of thin cardboard to get the funnel out of a horizontal position.
