GPS trackers/anti theft

Recommended Posts

I'm looking into buying one. I've been seeing a lot of stolen bikes latley on Facebook forums I'm on in the PNW. I want to put my mind at ease a bit and know this will help. With so many options out there I have no idea what to get as long as it has an internal battery or a backup battery. Who has one, what one do you have and how do you like it?

I had one from a company called Ghost Alarm and it worked well, but I got tired of dealing with AT&T, is who the company that they set you up to send texts to turn on and off the alarm and you could also see a GPS map of where the bike is at all times. I won't go into all the details about AT&T but they are the dumbest bunch of fools I've ever seen, they could not understand the concept of what was going on and kept turning off my service until after 4 or 5 months I gave up. Maybe they have worked out their bugs by now. Besides AT&T it worked great. This was a totally passive alarm, it would notify you by text if somebody messed with your bike, but no audible alarm. Then you track it in real time.

i had one installed on my vespa 300gts (cheap one from ebay/china for like $10) - but it kept draining my battery. if i did not ride for 3 days i had trouble starting. i installed a hidden switch so i could activate the tracker when necessary however i do admit i have not been using it for a while.
