Y.E.S. Extended Warranty Question

Recommended Posts

Not asking if you would or wouldn't buy it.
My question is the Maintenance Schedule. I'm in Ohio and usually garage my bikes in the winter, unless it's unseasonably mild. In reading the Maintenance schedule in the owner's manual, the 4,000 mi interval has "(or 6 Months)" listed. I just got my FJ the end of last summer, just over 1k miles on it. However, I've researched where Yamaha can be difficult to deal with in honoring the warranty. I am just wondering if anyone else uses the mileage or the 12 month time frame on the Maintenance schedule?
I'm thinking of adding a record that the bike was stored over winter, so the 12 months is actually more like 6 months.....
Any thoughts are appreciated.

Your post is a little confusing but if you're asking if you should change your oil you absolutely should. Changing it after 1 year is the norm.

Sorry about the confusion.  I was at work when I posted that, and it wasn't viewing correctly.
I have updated my original post as now that I read the manual again, it states 4,000 miles OR 6 Months.  So, guess my question is since I blew the 6 months service for the 4k interval, as it fell in the Winter here, I am changing oil now, but does anyone think Yammy will give me grief on the timing of my services?  I figure I'm doing the 6 month service now (winterized), although it will be 12 months in June.  Then the 8k service "Or 18 Months" will again fall in the Winter.  I really guess I'm wondering if I wasted money on the extended warranty, if I didn't or can't comply with the month timing of the service intervals?  Does that even make any sense?

I won't tell them if you don't.
