mufflerbearings
After warily circling the thing in the showroom for the past two years, I finally pulled the trigger on a leftover 2016 FJ-09. Thanks to all the experience and expertise on this forum, I was able to make an informed decision and got a good deal on the bike. I bought this bike as a replacement for my beloved but aging 1987 BMW K75. The FJ is like a spaceship compared to the old K75! I love rolling up the miles on this bike. In fact, I'm leaving in a few minutes to ride to Tecate, Mexico for the day. I'll come back with my Shad side cases (I only know about those thanks to this forum) stuffed full of tacos and pastries. Happy riding!

Supporting Member texscottyd Posted June 9, 2018 Supporting Member Share Posted June 9, 2018 @mufflerbearings - Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on the new FJ. I hadn’t really thought about it before, but for both being triples of roughly similar displacement, the FJ and K75 couldn’t be much more different motorcycles. The FJ is a great bike, and it will continue to grow on you over time. I used my FJ to shuttle three dozen homemade pork tamales home from Palacios last weekend. Tell me more about these Mexican pastries...

Tell me more about these Mexican pastries... You're right - the K75 and FJ are radically different. After so many years on the smooth and mellow K75, the FJ initially felt too harsh and abrupt; but now I've come to appreciate most of the characteristics of the FJ (although I do still ride the K75 on the occasion I just want to turn off my brain and relax). As for the Mexican pastries - check out El Mejor Pan de Tecate (Best Bread of Tecate) if you ever find yourself in Tecate, Baja California, MX. They sell outstanding pastries 24 hour per day. Of course, while you're in the area, you'll also want to take a tour of the Tecate brewery and get your free beer!
