bobaintstoppin
My Givi ring has come in from Twisted Throttle. You could check to see if they still have stock.
rodan
Got the BF23 mounting ring today. I still had to shim it up slightly to get the tank back to seat fully. Irritating, but now its done.
steve0
I ordered a GIVI BF23 flange from Mad4bikes on ebay. Shipped from the UK. What I received was a Kappa BF23K. It will not work without shimming.
tommo
I'm tight, so i bought a non evo motech ring (110 ring) and stuck a nut under the front two bolts. Allows a tank bag to fit perfectly, and cost about £10 GBP

Irritating, but now its done.Hi rodan, thanks for sharing. I have also bought the BF23 to fit my x308 tank bag. Did you find before shimming the mounting ring you could remove the bag without using the releasing mechanism? I did, you just had to wiggle the bag and it came off. Did the shimming make the bag more secure? How much did you have to shim by? What size did you use? Did you buy longer bolts to screw into the fuel cap - if yes what size? The m5 dome as stated...Sorry about all the questions, I am learning as I go. Cheers

ville
Hi, I needed to fit a 1mm gasket to avoid the mount ring touching the tank paint. Check yours is OK else it will damage the paint. Hi tosh the one I'm using is the one made for the fj09, it has a small curvature and comes with two little pieces of protective tape so it doesn't scratch anything. Thanks for the heads up. checkereddemon
I have to say I'm in 100% agreement with OldFart, why bother with anything else other than the MotoCentric 14 bag? I got it from Motorcycle Superstore: MotoCentric Mototrek 14 Tank Bag with Raincover, $52.97. Spare raincover was all of $2.99 - I've lost 'em in the past, cheap insurance <c>. And it got here, South Fla, in 3 days. The bag is very sturdily built, has some nice touches like a dedicated sunglasses case, and pockets and clips for doo-dads and sundries on the inside. WTF are sundries, anyway? The magnets are hella strong, it'd take a Force 5 tornado to lift that puppy off the tank. And still they give you a nice retaining strap, jes' in case. And the retaining strap uses a simple clip - 2 seconds on or off, pretty simple. The bag also fits the contours of the tank nicely - it looks a LOT better than what Yamaha is selling, YUK!! - and it has both gray and red accents allowing it to complement both the US paint schemes. Check it out: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/search/go?w=mototrek%20tank%20bag%2014 And no, I do not worry about the magnets picking up stray metal and ruining the tank. I just check my bag before I put it on the bike... -CD- 2015 Yamaha FJ-09: RaceTech Gold Valves, RaceTech Rear Spring, Arrow Full Exhaust - black with w/Carbon Fibre endcap, ECU Flash, Lowered 20mm front, 15 mm rear, Denali driving lights, Fenda Extenda, Tail Tidy, Corbin Seat, Madstad 22" Windshield, OEM heated grips, Woodcraft frame sliders, Grip Puppies, BadAss Cover (Large).... Premium Member fanowater Posted January 22, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted January 22, 2016 Nice picture Docsimple! I use the Nelson-Rigg CL-2015 with straps, but turn it around so it is more level (and nothing falls out when I open it) https://www.nelsonrigg.com/luggage/cl-series/journey-sport-tank-bag-detail.html Cost, btw is often much less on Amazon. docsimple
thanks fano, thats a nice bag you have, and checkeredred that's a fantastic deal. I got my bag cheap from an ADV'er and have been hooked since. Prior to this I only had cheap strap-ons but those magnetic bags look pretty nice. And a lot less expensive that the tank mounts. Even for my older bag I spent over a hundred plus $60 for the mount. I will say that they have a huge selection of the mounts as I was able to move mine from my V to my FJ with, ummm, another $60 B-| 2015 Red FJ 09 2013 WR250R - little boy blue - sold 2012 DL650 V Strom - sold 2007 FZ6 - sold 1986 FJ600 - sold
motomachines
Any of you fellas out there willing to try out the Hepco & Becker tank bag set up? I'm looking for someone to get one of our bad boys mounted on their bike, get some use out of it, and write up a review posted on here and on ADV Rider! Of course, you would not pay retail, and would get a nice discounted rate. Shoot me a PM if interested! (just one spot open for this unfortunately, so first come first serve) Link to the mount: http://www.motomachines.com/Lock-it-Tank-Ring--5-Bolt-Pattern_p_3475.html Link to the different bags that would fit: http://www.motomachines.com/Tank-Bags_c_633.html http://www.motomachines.com
