Premium Member 2and3cylinders Posted November 4, 2018 Premium Member Share Posted November 4, 2018 It's not ALL about crash protection, and while the Givi may not be the best, for mounting driving lights and highway pegs they can't be beat. nhchris
I dunno... I'm sure those Givi bars offer lots of protection to some parts of the motor, but man the really disrupt that lean-n-mean naked bike look. They remind me of the bars truckers install so they can hit a moose at speed and keep on rolling. Do they reduce the lean angle much? I hate to lever a tire off the road leaned over due to a crash bar. cb 1968 Triumph Bonneville 650 1971 Norton Commando Roadster 2002 Harley 1200 Sportster 2003 Honda ST 1300 2016 FJ

I like the SW Motech bars in combination with the Woodcraft case protectors. https://www.revzilla.com/parts/2015-yamaha-fj-09#page=1&sort=featured&limit=96&facets%5B%5D=524&facets%5B%5D=812&facets%5B%5D=1951&price=&price_min=1&price_max=1595&is_new=false&is_sale=false&is_made_in_usa=false&has_video=false&is_holiday=false&is_blemished=false A bit pricey, but cheap insurance in my opinion. And, they look great together.

I am not planning to drop it ? but I wanna be on the safe side. checking what is the best option , SW motech or givi or OEM sliders ? Sliders for me. I opted for the T-Rex Racing slider combo kit. I haven't dropped my bike but I am confident that they would provide some protection. I dunno… I'm sure those Givi bars offer lots of protection to some parts of the motor, but man they really disrupt that lean-n-mean naked bike look. The slider combo is a lot more compact and lighter weight and less visible. 2015 red FJ-09: Cal Sci screen, Sargent seat, ECU flash, slider combo, cruise, Rizoma bars, Matts forks, JRi shock, slipper clutch
nhchris
Hi all, After all the discussion re crash bars, sliders, etc. I was curious what the cost would be to simply replace OEM crank case covers and clutch covers damaged in a low side drop. I was surprised at how inexpensive those parts are. The crank case covers are about $65 per side. I could not find the clutch case cover on the parts diagram. I used this website for pricing. cb 1968 Triumph Bonneville 650 1971 Norton Commando Roadster 2002 Harley 1200 Sportster 2003 Honda ST 1300 2016 FJ
