wordsmith
I've seen many references to the desirability of replacing the somewhat vulnerable sump drain-plug bolt on 2105 Tracers (I believe the sump re-design on 2016s and later resolved this). Can someone please advise a source/ specification/ of a suitable replacement bolt (just in case!)? Thank you... kmev
I used the drain plug from a Yamaha R1. It doesn't rust like the Mazda bolt that some use, and it is magnetic. In order to be effective, you also need to file/grind down the oil pan's protective lug, which isn't difficult. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Magnetic-Oil-Sump-Drain-Plug-fits-2016-Yamaha-R1-90340-14019-00-PSR0206-/311557082474?hash=item488a3fcd6a
Supporting Member betoney Posted December 7, 2018 Supporting Member Share Posted December 7, 2018 @wordsmith - I also use the drain plug from an R1, I bought the oem plug, which is non-magnetic, it was less than $3. I do like magnetic plugs, I have used them for years in previous bikes, I may have to buy one like @kmev linked. ***2015 Candy Red FJ-09***

johnakay
if your bolts is made of steel you can magnetize it by rubbing a magnet across a few times. I do this on my screwdrivers those little screws are a bugger to hold with fat fingers.lol
Premium Member DavidS Posted December 8, 2018 Premium Member Share Posted December 8, 2018 or buy this at Walmart for $3.75, it's also magnetic. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Genuine-Volkswagen-OEM-N91-167-901-Engine-Oil-Drain-Plug/194164968?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=15592&adid=22222222227061785143&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=165541229509&wl4=pla-272187982299&wl5=9033288&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=118780879&wl11=online&wl12=194164968&wl13=&veh=sem&gclid=Cj0KCQiAxNnfBRDwARIsAJlH29CHbgjr6juF2OT2LVOOKxDWZYFOvgmh-uy0UGnsrDPoTj479ut4rVsaAkzMEALw_wcB
