Amazing accomplishment, and it sounds like you have many miles left to ride.

Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations, that is quite an accomplishment. That averages to over 3,500 miles every single month, where do you ride to?  I mean, are you still riding to new destinations every month?

@olddawg - That's some distance!  Please tell us what, if any, issues of significance have you had over this time/distance with the machine?  200,000 miles would have to be a good test of a machine's durability in any one's language!

@dazzler24 - On page 2 of this thread he mentioned normal routine maintenance but needing to replace the fuel pump at 53,000 miles.  At the rate that I ride (14-15k per year) it would take me about 15 years to achieve the same milestone as @olddawg.  I would be thrilled if  that is the only major issue.

@olddawg; @betoney - Now don't I feel foolish!!  How'd I miss that!?  Sorry folks, I'm going back to my rocking chair and hot chocolate.

....And now that I've actually read the entire thread properly 🙄 I agree, great milage for very few issues.  Good news all around for the rest of us who have these machines. 🙂

@betoney - thanks.  The worst part is I had actually read this thread some time ago and thought it all sounded familiar!!  I've got no excuse!

... Except maybe I can blame it all on another Homer moment... 😜

Olddawg I’m glad you made that mark. Please keep going and keep us informed.

I’m proud to have the same license plate back as you.

@olddawgThat is some impressive mileage 👍 I'm assuming Yamaha factory oil filter and oil (synthetic or Dino) as the Dealer did the servicing?

Hey Olddawg,

That’s damn impressive. You getting any more miles on these days.
I guess the FJ must be as capable as the FJR at lasting many miles.

Thanks.

To answer, do I still ride to new destinations .  Sometimes, most of my rides are between 100 and 400 miles.  I am 77 yrs. old and don't  like to be gone overnight I have only done so twice since I bought the bike.  I have done one Iron Butt SS1000 and ridden every mile of every highway in Oklahoma.  Even the short rides are great, I've never had a boring ride and hope I can do this many more years.  Now about the bike.  I bought the bike new April first 2015 at K&N Yamaha Tulsa OK and they have done all the maintenance .  They have been great and gone above and beyond to keep me on the road with very little down time.  There was a factory recall on CCT and it was replaced twice .  The third time it was replaced with aftermarket manual adjuster, no more problems but had to replace cam chain.  Replaced fuel pump at about 50,000 miles. I wasn't stranded, it would only run about 30 mph.  Replaced stator at about 150,000 miles.  Valves set five times , plugs, air filter, throttle body check.  Changed to V Stream windshield after two years.  It is much better. Everything else is stock.  I am impressed by what didn't go bad . It still has original clutch, all bearings,  fork seals and does not use any oil or leak any fluids.  Thank you for your interest and kind words.  Slowing down some I'm getting old, 5/20/20 - 207,000 miles .    6/25/2020  212,000

You are Great!  Your chassis and systems must be wearing out a bit, and I don't know how your tush can stand the stock saddle and thus likely are in far better shape than me, and I'm +10 your junior!

You also must be retired.  Lucky Old Dawg!  I'm still working and must do so for a while due to circumstances BMC.  If I had the time and money I'd always be on my FJ, as it's only getting on and off which is an issue for me.  I'm waiting till the fall to get spine surgery, and then hopefully by spring I'll be GTG!  I lost the summer of 18 and most of 19, and now, so far, half of this year due to work and maladies.

Keep at it kid, you're an inspiration to all of us!
