Guest
Last week I installed a Blaster X integrated tail light but I kept the stock turn signals. I like it, it's way brighter than the stock tail light. Anyway, I installed rear TST turn signal tonight. They are a lot brighter than stock and look way cool but they don't stay on like the stock ones. I'd prefer they stay on. Is there a way to do this or is this the trade off for LED turn signals. duhs10
If you are talking about running lights then you need turn signals with 3 wires. I have a '15 FJ and the rear turn signals do not have the 3rd wire for running lights. Only the front. '15 FJ-09 w/ lots of extras... Premium Member sirepair Posted April 10, 2019 Premium Member Share Posted April 10, 2019 US models don't have amber marker lights on rear, only on front. Not sure about other countries. If this is something you would want to do, you could wire in "Blinker Genies", applying a switched hot wire to the running light input. This would turn on the lights when key is on, and make them flash with turn signal. But they would be on full bright. www.customled.com/collections/blinker-genie
bugie
My EU bike only has 2 wires down from the wiring loom on the indicators
Guest
I didn't realize that the rear signals didn't stay lit all the time and that only the front did. I only had time to install the rear signals last night and will get to the front this weekend. I guess my subsequent question is whether the front aftermarket signals stay on all of the time? The TST are only 2 wire, not sure if this is important.
Premium Member sirepair Posted April 11, 2019 Premium Member Share Posted April 11, 2019 If you want running lights AND turn signals, and your replacement LEDs are only 2 wire, you will have to install blinker genies. OEM front TS has 2 circuits (2 hot and 1 ground wire) 1 circuit for running light, 1 circuit for flash. The blinker genie is a circuit that runs the LED at full bright for running, then flashes the LED when TS circuit is on. I just installed my 2 wire LEDs last week. Didn't document this because it's been covered before. Order the blinker genies, and get an LED compatible flaser so you don't need to mess with load resistors. Well worth the $10-12 bucks. Flasher relay is under the seat and takes just a few minutes to replace. Keep us posted of progress.

So much easier than resistors. https://tstindustries.com/tst-led-flasher-relay-gen2.html '15 FJ-09 w/ lots of extras... Guest
I have the flasher relay from Custom LED installed already. I just ordered Blinker Genie from them. I appreciate the advice. I've removed the handguards and all of the reflectors and changed out the rear turn signals. The bike looks a lot leaner and aggressive. I'll change out the front turn signals next week when the blinker genies arrive. With the Blaster X tail light and the TST LED turn signals the rear really lights up now. Duke
The previous owner of my bike replaced the stock turn signals with cheap Chinese LEDs that looked like crap and we’re way too dim. I found a set of High Tech Speed Protons for a CBR600 on eBay, and I used them on the back of my bike. They have running lights, and the turn signals are bright enough that I mounted a Whelen strobe below my license plate as a second brake light. Then I bought a new set from HTS to replace my front turn signals. They are even brighter and look awesome. I can’t be happier with how everything turned out. Old enough to know better, but young enough to do it anyway.

How visible are the Protons when viewing directly from the front? as if viewing from across a 4-way stop? I considered the Protons but I already had the X-Arc on the rear and was VERY impressed with their brightness, so I put a set on the front as well. ***2015 Candy Red FJ-09***

The new Proton 5000s are extremely bright and definitely visible from the front. Are they as visible as the X-Arcs mounted the way you have them, definitely not. However, they are extremely visible across nearly 180 degrees, so they get noticed. Old enough to know better, but young enough to do it anyway. Duke
I have Protons and X-Arcs on my wife’s CBR954 too, and I think they’re amazing. I was going to put X-Arcs on the back of my FJ, but I didn’t like how much they were hidden by the Mosko Moto bags. That’s when I found the Protons on EBay and came up with my current configuration. By the way, the picture of the back of my bike only shows the lights with the ignition on, no brakes or flashers. If I tried to take a video of that, I’m not sure how it would turn out. Maybe I’ll try that tomorrow evening. I can turn on the flashers and do a walk around. Old enough to know better, but young enough to do it anyway.
