Anyone using aftermarket TPMS?

Recommended Posts

I'm OCD about my tire pressure and want a TPMS that is both accurate and reliable. I was looking at this system (TireGard 13-315A Motorcycle Tire Pressure Monitoring System https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0068FYAHK/?tag=soubayrid-20 ) but I'm open to experienced input on other options. Anyone else using a monitoring system they like?

The Tiregard TPMS is a good system. I've mounted the sensors inside the tire rim using Doran Manufacturing valve stems with the lock ring.

Tire gauge in the garage to check before the ride is what I use. In my experience, too much tech takes away from the ride experience.

I have the cheap $30 TPMS with bar mounted monitor from amazon.. haven't had any issues with it other than its impossible to read in direct sunlight. Battery life and readings are right where I would expect them to be.

I'd like something like this but as with so many other items Amazon does not ship these to Australia.   BOOOO!

One note of caution: TPMS has led to temporary paranoia in 2 of my riding buddies.  The tires don't hold much air and the pressures go up or down a pound or two as we ride.  The display seems handy to check before a ride but a distraction to look at all day.

These valve stems were mentioned in another thread on TPMS. I can't find if anyone here actually uses/used them. The description says they replace stem sizes .625 or .453 in automotive or performance applications. My question is does anyone know if they will fit the Japanese Tracer rim?

I have seen 2 or 3 bikes with exterior sensors mounted on rubber valve stems. After about 6 months the rubber stems look pretty sad, bent way over. I would recommend metal straight stems but not sure about 90 degree stems. I used the internal sensors on mine with no issues other than about 1 ounce more weight to balance. When I went to 320 front rotors, I went with 90 valve stems and scrapped TPMS.

They work fine on my '15 FJ-09 and my ST-1100. Nice because you don't have to remove sensor to adjust air pressure.
