The Tiregard TPMS is a good system. I've mounted the sensors inside the tire rim using Doran Manufacturing valve stems with the lock ring.

Tire gauge in the garage to check before the ride is what I use. In my experience, too much tech takes away from the ride experience.

I have the cheap $30 TPMS with bar mounted monitor from amazon.. haven't had any issues with it other than its impossible to read in direct sunlight. Battery life and readings are right where I would expect them to be.

I'd like something like this but as with so many other items Amazon does not ship these to Australia.   BOOOO!

One note of caution: TPMS has led to temporary paranoia in 2 of my riding buddies.  The tires don't hold much air and the pressures go up or down a pound or two as we ride.  The display seems handy to check before a ride but a distraction to look at all day.
