The how was your commute thread.

Recommended Posts

It seems a lot of us here commute regularly on our bikes.

Thought we could have a thread to talk about how our commutes were or complain about cagers or whatever.

So how was your commute today?

Me? I beat this home by about fifteen minutes 😎

It's not the weather that that messes up my commute, it's the cagers and their cellphones.

. . . but I did see a woman working on her iPad.  In traffic.  Traveling between red lights and while stopped at red lights.

Just another day at the office, I suppose.

Uneventful.

Yesterday there was a bunch of traffic for no apparent reason. I ended up chatting with a couple other riders in stop-and-go traffic. Traffic sucks, but the quick chats made it a little more bearable.

It's been a cool and  rainy spring here so my first daily commute didn't start until last week.

On my first commute, I made it two  miles before I almost gotten taken out.

I was passing vehicles in the left lane, when a SUV merged, without blinkers, into my lane.  I had full brakes and was on that 1 foot section of cement you see with cement curbs.  Holy buckets, I almost went down.  All two miles into the first commute of the year.

The car never slowed down, never attempted to return back to the right lane, never offered any kind of apology.  I quickly caught back up to the person and at the next stop light gave the douchebag a ear full.

Yep, all too familiar, Roadwarrior.  Glad things didn't get worse.  And when s*t like this happens, somehow it's all our fault...

Stay frosty out there.

Apparently we have a comedian at the shop.

Left work in the dry, two minutes later I was in a downpour with drops the size of golf balls. Pulled in under an overpass and put the rain gear on. Five minutes later the sun was out and it was almost 90°.  I should have just got wet. Probably would have dried off by the time I got home. Instead I got home sweaty and wet.

Doc told me two more weeks of PT and I can start riding. I’m looking forward to being able to commute on the bike, but not looking forward to being surrounded by BDCs and having no protection. Time to brush up on my two wheeled defensive and offensive driving skills.

Keep up the PT, Young Man.  Every little bit helps.
