milton
Hi The MT-09 Tracer (aka FJ-09) has a possibility to adjust the headlight(s) easily by turning two knobs left and right just behind the headlights. How is this adjustment done exactly? Is it foreseen that this should/could be done by the driver? Does your english/american version of the manual contain any mentions/instructions regarding to this headlight adjustment? I got the german issue of the user manual with my bike called 2PP-28199-G1. Nothing in about this. No, the European manual does not refer anything regarding that. Put your bike in front of a wall and adjust the headlights by turning left or right the screw. bobdog
Howdy, Does anyone know how to move them left/right to broaden the light pattern? 2015 Grey FJ09 with a few tweaks, 2007 HD Street Glide - Good Bike + Good Friends = Good Day.
Premium Member wessie Posted March 19, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted March 19, 2015 Howdy, Does anyone know how to move them left/right to broaden the light pattern? just looked in my service manual the rotary knobs on either side of the instrument cluster adjust the beam in the vertical plane - clockwise to lower the beam to adjust the beam left/right, there is a screw for each lamp just below the knurled knob for the vertical adjuster. Turn the screw clockwise to move the beam right. This signature is left blank as the poster writes enough pretentious bollocks as it is.

rocky5000100
Thread bump, this helped this morning. My new FJ's low beam was aimed too high. I also didn't realize we had left/right adjustment on these. Mine could use a little aim to the right.
vrex
Can someone tell me the purpose of the two small plastic knobs on stalks that jut out, one on either side, below the instrument display? They appear to be adjusters of some kind, but I can find no reference to them in the owner's manual.
rocky5000100
They adjust the headlights up and down. I had to use the one on the left because my low beam was aimed too high. You spin it clockwise to lower it. It needs quite a few turns, so crank away.

Premium Member keithu Posted September 12, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted September 12, 2015 I was in a small rural town this evening teaching a soccer referee class. I came out of the building and it was pitch dark! I had to feel around just to find my FJ. I started my bike and parked across the street so my partner could see to get in his car. My headlights made a nice pattern on the side of the building, so I played with the adjusters. It was easy to see the beams move even from a single turn. So that's the trick: find a dark area at night and park 30-40 feet (10-15m) from a large wall.

Simple and direct. Nice that the FJ is so easy to adjust. http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/how-to-your-aim-true I'll need to find a level spot with a wall and check mine out as my wife (who I followed with my FJ one night) was complaining that my low beams were very bright (which I like :^) but also perhaps a bit high.
