SW-MOTECH Bags-Connection Non-Electric QUICK-LOCK EVO Engage

I use it to carry everyday essentials like a flashlight, tire gauge, notebook and pen, and my garage door opener, a MoDor product I am very pleased with.  This is a really good looking bag. It flows nicely with the lines of the 2015 Yamaha FJ-09. It is small, but efficient. It has wire ports on both ends, and accommodations for a gadget (phone, GPS) holder on the front. I put the template for the ring connector all the way to the back, drilled the holes, fastened the ring connector down, and done. I didn't drill the anti theft device hole, and after watching the video on how to get the bag off if you can't get to the tab/cable, wished I had....but I will later. Always make sure the tab that is looped through the release cable is snapped on to the front. It can be difficult to retrieve it if it gets tucked under the bag. Overall, a great looking product that stands off of the paint, and works great! I'm not smart enough to post pics to this forum, but I gave essentially the same review at Twisted throttle, and posted pics with my review. The only problem I had was actually buying the mounting ring, EVO 110. TT is/has been out of them, so I found a supplier in Calgary that did have them both. Free shipping, got both  parts in a week. Sold by 2nd-gear on E-bay if the TT drought continues.

Sorry about the confusion. The tank bag is a SW-Motech item that you can buy from 2nd Gear, and at the time I was looking, he was the only vendor that had the EVO 110 tank ring for the bike. Thats why I ordered from him, and the service was excellent. The Mo-Dor garage door opener can be found at www.mo-door.com/index.html . Let me know if the link doesn't work....I know they can be a bit cranky...I ordered the Mo-Dor with a 12 inch wire and a push button switch that pokes through the front wire port with a 1/4" fender washer on the inside and outside. Works a treat, but I have an older Genie opener, and I had to work with it to get it to accept the code from the Mo-Dor. WELL worth the effort!

I looked at that tank bag because of the curve to it. I thought it would mold to the tank nicely. However, the GIVI 308 had the same curve and was a little larger (I think) and came with an IPAD/MAP pouch that snaps onto the top. Price was a little cheaper as well. I posted pics of my setup on the tank bag thread. I do like the look of the SW-Motech though.

I have the SW Motech City tankbag and want to mount it on my FJ.  I've had trouble finding the mounting ring for the gas filler or even finding a listing as to which one is the correct mounting ring.  I have now found the EVO 110 on Ebay but the FJ isn't listed as a "compatible vehicle".  Is the EVO 110 the one that I need?  Thanks for the help.

You need to make sure the piece that mounts on the bag is the new EVO unit. It won't work with the older mounts.
Hello Peporter, could you please upload a photo of the tank with the tank ring (without the bag)? Thanks.

I bought and installed the EVO110 tankbag qdaptor ring on my FJ and it won't work for the SW Motech City bag.  At least,  i don't see how it will work.  The adaptor ring fits just fine but the plastic trim part just ahead of the gas tank filler sits up high and prevents the tankbag from attaching to the tankbag adaptor ring.  I put in some spacers under it to raise the adaptor ring up some but i haven't had success with that yet.  It looks like doing that will work but it will require longer screws.  I'll probably wait for someone to make an adaptor ring specifically for the FJ.

I've got the SW Motech Micro bag with the EVO 110 ring. Works okay. i have to be kinda FIRM when pushing down the front of the bag to get it caught on the tank ring, but it does push down and lock in place. The bag still overlaps the plastic piece on the front of the tank, it's just that it'll latch in place anyway. I have no spacers under the tank ring at all.
Don't follow. Don't lead. Don't join.
