v1nn1e
When I engage 6th gear there is a clear change in the transmission noise. Just wondering whether mine's got poorly toleranced gears/shafts, or do they all do it...? There's also quite a change in pitch when pulling in and releasing the clutch in neutral... 😖

You get used to them or they get less intense with time... not sure which! 😆
Premium Member keithu Posted September 18, 2019 Premium Member Share Posted September 18, 2019 Agreed, very common. I think the noise actually comes from the chain, not the transmission. At certain speeds in 6th gear there seems to be just the right torque and speed on the chain to create some resonance.
skipperT
Another agree here. Running your chain tension a bit tight also makes the “sounds” more pronounced. I tend to run in 5th gear until 65+ (100-110+ kph) mph before getting in 6th. Helps a bit too. -Skip
