Winter Projects

Recommended Posts

What's your winter project(s)? Those of you in warmer climates can chime in too. Even though it's not really winter... (I'm looking at you Scott). Feel free to discuss whatever, this thread can wander all over. Post up your pics, updates, etc.

For me, the FJ needs a throttle body sync. I'll check the valves too and replace the spark plugs. Maybe some front suspension work.. we'll see if I find the funds.

The GSXR needs it's coolant flushed and suspension serviced. I'll do the fork oil and possibly seals. The shock will go to MC Tech I think. Also needs more safety wire and prep to race WERA next season.

Next week I have an appointment for valve check/adjust, spark plug replacement and TB sync.

I also need to do the annual greasing of the swingarm and linkage bearings as well as shifter and brake pedal pivots.

The suspension isn't due for servicing until next year.

I need to mount the PR5 tires, put on the 320mm front rotors, Spiegler brake lines and make a rear fender extension. I have about 500mi left on my rear tire and I plan on burning that off breaking in the Bagster seat that should be here any day. Just hoping we don't get snow and the roads get coated with a ton of salt.

I'm running out of stuff to do to the GT. But if I have the tank off to do the lines I might as well do the do a flash and put on a set of Denali lights, before the wife takes the credit card away😅

Other than maintenance I'm out of stuff to do. I was thinking of powder coating the exhaust tubes black on the Delkovic exhaust but even after searching I can't find any new things to do. This sucks because i like working on motorcycles.

Winter Project:

I'm gonna read the Valve Adjustment section of the Service Manual 10 times. When I say read, I mean look at all the pictures. Then realize there's no way I could do it right, without messing something up. Then I'll take it to a dealer..😂

-Pull the exhaust cam and loosen the valves. TB sync.

-install the Allballs steering head bearings I bought 3 years ago.

-hopefully install F&R suspension upgrades that I buy on Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

-Install the Honda CB handlebar “weights” inside my bars, see if there’s a difference.

-Order a new masterlink for the chain, remove it and clean thoroughly.
that’s all I can think of at the moment.

-Skip
