The only mention of the switch I could find is this, nothing mentioned on preference for shutting the bike off. ***2015 Candy Red FJ-09***
Supporting Member Kenny A. Posted January 8, 2020 Author Supporting Member Share Posted January 8, 2020 I don't use the kill switch all the time, but as littlebruv says, its easier to reach than the key. Anyway bike was collected last night,so it's now back at the dealer. 2019 900 GT, 1969 Honda S90

skipperT
Sounds like the start solenoid/relay assy is sticking. Glad your dealer is stepping up. -Skip
mingo
Yamaha uses the same switch on several bikes. I had it on my SuperTenere without issues. Eager to hear how it's resolved.
Supporting Member Kenny A. Posted January 11, 2020 Author Supporting Member Share Posted January 11, 2020 Right then. Got bike back from dealer last night. The cause of all this is NOT starter/kill switch. I fitted a pair of Denali DRL's/Indicators, but did NOT connect them up. I know very little about bike electrics,so asked a biker guy who stays along the road from me if he would connect them up for me. He said no problem. Turns out the cause of the starter not going off is when ignition is switched,DRL's come on (fine), but they are also sending a permanent live feed straight to the starter, hence it keeps turning. l don't know how they are DRL's are connected,I wasn't there when this was done. Dealer checked starter/kill switch, and all relays.(all o.k.). He has now disconnected DRL's,and taped all the wires up,the indicators are o.k. Everything is now perfect. So what I thought was a warranty claim, has turned out to be an expensive botch job by this guy,who I thought knew about electrics. The final bill which included a service (oil + brake fluid change) was £192 !!! OUCH !! 1 2019 900 GT, 1969 Honda S90
Toddtr
Now you should edit your title and apologize for jumping to conclusions about Yamaha having starter issues. Nice one Yamaha 👍 not “Nice one a Yamaha 👎” Until you know for sure, don’t be a d.... 1
BBB
Thanks for the update @Kenny A.. Good to know that it wasn’t a starter issue per se. I wired my DRLs from the spare accessory wiring points that are behind the windscreen as they are switched live. 1 Red 2015 Tracer, UK spec (well, it was until I started messing with it...) Supporting Member betoney Posted January 11, 2020 Supporting Member Share Posted January 11, 2020 @Kenny A. - Glad you got the issue resolved and are back on the road. Like @BBB mentioned, behind the screen are several available 12v switched auxiliary power plugs, I hardwired my GPS and Denali DRL's into those plugs. 1 ***2015 Candy Red FJ-09***
