Any epic road trips planned for 2020?

Does anyone have any road trip plans for this Summer?  While I love a day ride of just tearing up mountain or canyon twisties, I seem to always be looking at Google Maps for the next multi-day ride destination, usually somewhere I haven't been before.

This year I am planning a 9-day ride to the Black Hills of South Dakota in mid-July (NOT during the Sturgis Rally 😝) to Deadwood, Sturgis, Keystone, Needles Highway, Spearfish Canyon etc.  If anyone has any suggestions or advise on that area, I am all ears.

Next year I plan on returning to Colorado to ride in the area of the Continental Divide, Loveland and Independence Passes, Copper Mountain, Aspen etc.  Last year we rode to the Durango, Ouray, Telluride area and were awe struck at the scenery!  Insanely beautiful riding.

What about anyone else? Any epic road trips planned?

I'm riding the Butt Lite Rally in July. The start/finish is in Kansas City, so I need to ride there from Oregon and then home again. I don't know where the rally will take me, I just know it's six days long and there is a checkpoint halfway through in South Dakota. I expect to ride 4000-6000 miles during the six days of the rally, so should be an "epic" ride for me.

Late July early August I am heading from Indiana to California and back.  Not exactly sure of the route but I have done similar trips before on an 09.  Usually a little over 6000 miles in a couple of weeks.  Camping under the starts and enjoying the scenery.  Can't wait.

My two riding buddies and Myself are planning a "four corners" tour of Scotland in the Summer.Taking in Berwick on Tweed , run across the borders to Mull of Galloway lighthouse and then taking in Durness and John O'Groats as part of the Northwest 500.The socialising is as important as the riding so no particularly long days and will probably plan on being away for the week.

Did most of the North Coast 500 in '18 and it was a great time and a real exercise of the rain kit.

This summer it's going be the Pyrenees.

Yes, that is EPIC!!   What do you do about tires and oil changes?  Round Trip to Oregon + the Rally could be 8-10,000 miles.

What part of California are you heading to?  There are SO MANY amazing roads in California.

I try to venture down to California once or twice a year, last year I discovered Lake Berryessa and the surrounding roads while on my way to Santa Cruz. 👍

Summer of 17 we rode the route anti clockwise apart from the first day we had fantastic weather and saw Scotland at its best. Thought we would try it clockwise this time.

That applecross pass is summot else. We had a sunny week mid may 19. Brilliant week. Nice mix of slow and fast roads. Deer can get in the way though.

Nice. We flew to Belfast, hired bikes from Philip McCallen, took in the UlsterGP, then the ferry to Cairnryan and a clockwise trip. Also a couple days in the Orkneys. Good times.

I am not exactly sure yet.  Last time I went from Los Angelos northbound to San Francisco.  The thought had crossed my mind to try and ride further north up the Oregon coast to Seattle.  I go solo and camp mostly so  I will prob change my route a few times before launch date.  I love it out that way.

No rides planned that I would call epic.  But I do plan at least two trips down to the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee.  Will also take in some roads in north Georgia.

There is nothing like spending a day riding with friends in the grip of a shared obsession.

I haven't ridden in So.Cal yet but ridden No.Cal many times, and all over Oregon dozens and dozens of times.  I would suggest avoiding Seattle unless you feel the "need" to experience horrific traffic.

The plan is to install new tires in KC just before the start. Michelin Road 5s should last the rally plus the ride home.

Oil changes I haven't figured out yet. I'll probably do an oil change right before the rally and another one at the end before I head home. There's a KC local who has offered up his garage for stuff like this.
