daboo
Another great day in the Pacific Northwest, and another great ride. The caveat on that statement is that while you can ride year around here, most of the year is not like this. The lowlands are wet with rain, and the higher elevations are covered in snow. So you make the most of it while you can. I was invited to join some other riders from church on a trip to Leavenworth. In case you're wondering, this was not a prison ministry trip to Leavenworth, KS. Here's a link to the town that brings some Bavarian hospitality to the PNW. https://leavenworth.org The route takes us from sea level, over Stevens Pass in the Cascade mountain range and to the east side. Crossing one of the rivers near Monroe, WA. Along Hwy 2 A few miles out of Leavenworth. On a whim, I detoured on the way home through Chumstick and came out near Lake Wenatchee. If you're in the area, this is a wonderful side road. Curvy. Good pavement. Little traffic. Just one of those roads that is good for the soul. Back on Hwy 2, on the west side of Stevens Pass. Stew
Stunning. And the road surface looks so smooth.
Supporting Member betoney Posted August 2, 2020 Supporting Member Share Posted August 2, 2020 @daboo - Thanks for the photos. I love the ride between Cole's Corner and Leavenworth where the road follows the Wenatchee River. Next time I'm in that area I'll have to explore Chumstick Highway. 👍 ***2015 Candy Red FJ-09***
daboo
You could always call and we explore it together... ...but maybe you just don't want to be seen riding with a BMW owner... A nice little ride would be to meet at the Black Diamond Bakery for coffee and breakfast, then head over to Sunrise. Maybe head over Chinook Pass to Yakima. Go through the Yakima Canyon and then home. Or just stop at Sunrise and hike around a bit. There's a nice hike over at Tipsoo Lake, not far from there with postcard views of Mt. Rainier. No prejudice at all, Ive even ridden with Suzuki's and Harley's before...😲 I very much appreciate the offer and might take you up on it in the future, I am still recovering from surgery and will be off the bike for awhile longer. ☹️ ***2015 Candy Red FJ-09***
daboo
I'll be passing through your area on the way to Central Oregon mid-August and early September both. I'll be around Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens on the 29th. Chris Edited August 3, 2020 by daboo
