Same same in Australia. Seems like just the GT will be offered, leastwise according to Motorcycle News Australia Article on the 2021 Tracer 9 Still no mention of price. Got a great price and not knowing the 21 was going to be changed I was super happy - and I'm still supper happy. My thoughts as well. As much as I like the looks and the upgrades done to the Tracer 9 I will have no inclination to change. I mentioned in another topic about WOW factor. When I test rode the Tracer I was so blown away with the difference between that and My Honda CBF 1000 that I gladly emptied my piggy bank to buy one. I am sure that the difference between My 17 plate Tracer and a new Tracer 9 won't be enough "WOW Factor" to make me want to change. Mind you that will not stop me wanting a test ride. Premium Member 2and3cylinders Posted February 2, 2021 Premium Member Share Posted February 2, 2021 I'm not one to significantly or often care about aesthetics, as I'm a born engineer that cares almost exclusively first about function over form. An example being buying my 15 FJ09 , which though proportioned well enough is not particularly handsome or sleek. So while I knew going in the windscreen was an abomination, I did not know the rest of the aerodynamics were compromised as well. The engine (though to me the power is a bit underwhelming) and handling make up for other shortcomings once you get them sorted a bit. Its relatively high power to weight ratio (well not compared to a KTM Super Duke GT anyway, which was my first but financially unreachable choice), larger tank, great comfort and very reasonable price (mine was $8,200 in June 16 + T&L) made my decision relatively easy. Anyway, getting back to the 21 Tracer 9, my one "gripe" regarding aesthetics is the shape, size, context and connection of the "side panel" behind the tank under the saddle. IMO it should be shaped and sized to fill completely or a good bit more of the triangular void of the subframe. Failing that, it should be reshaped and larger so as to connect to more of the bottom rear of the tank. Otherwise I'd have to modify it to my liking, or at least paint it black... ZigMerid
I just checked the Yammy website in Australia and they now have retail pricing and a paintjob that I haven't seen anywhere else. Something they are calling "Tech Kamo", which looks to be a matt black finish. Retail pricing is $23,299.00 drive away with 12 months rego, etc. which at current exchange rates, equates to about $18K USD so we'll be paying a USD $3K premium for the privilege, compared to the good ol' USA. But maybe the US pricing doesn't include sales tax, rego and dealer delivery fees, which would make the difference closer to $1500, which I guess is tolerable. Here's the "Kamo" image. It's an awful name but I think I like the low-key matt finish without the Yammy blurple. and here's the website: Tracer 9 GT | Yamaha Motor Australia Lighter, more powerful and supremely versatile – and now equipped with... I think the "Kamo" is a matt dark green when you see it in the metal interesting enough if you like dark green and don't like your bike all sparkly and colourful.
Premium Member 2and3cylinders Posted February 17, 2021 Premium Member Share Posted February 17, 2021 What were they thinking?! Tech Kamo? More like I'm so dull and blend so well, why don't you please run me over and put me out of my misery. 2

Yep. @ZigMerid - scroll back up through this thread and you should see a link to a walkaround done by Critical Rider. You'll get a better idea of what the Tech Kamo colour looks like. Out the door with tax, title and doc fees here is $15,906.58. Won't be paying delivery fees, fortunately, which runs 300-500 here.
nick@forceberg.net
I just placed an order on the new Tracer 9 GT here in Sweden. I went with the Tech Kamo. It's awesome with its matte finish 😍 Now it's just a looong waiting time.

Ah, ok. That matches the name a little better. Definitely seems like a something you need to see IRL to get a true idea of what it looks like. I probably should have realised that matt-black might have been a bit too close to teenage angst for a company going thru its mid-life blurple crisis :-)

We have 50 states and every one of them has their own licensing system with widely varying fees. Sales tax rates also vary not only by state but even by local county and city. Sales tax on a new motorcycle in the USA can range from 0-10% depending on where you live. So the US MSRP set by Yamaha ($14899) doesn't include freight, setup, sales tax, or licensing. Whether a dealer charges you for freight and setup is entirely negotiable. I live in Oregon which is one of the cheaper states. We have no sales tax, and license fees are relatively low. When I bought my 2015 FJ-09, state fees were only $250 which included four years of registration.

I'd never pay that off the showroom, or at least I've managed to avoid it thus far on new bikes.

We hardly want Kawasaki green now, do we! Edited February 17, 2021 by ZigMerid
