Camping Trip to Cadwell Park

Recommended Posts

Greetings Earthlings.
The weather report for my region was the usual boring and cool for the past few days, so I decided to make good use of the Tracer and head south to the SUNSHINE!

Cadwell Park,  motorcycle racing. Oooooh, yes indeed, that will do me.
Packed the bike up and headed off, almot 300 miles each way, mostly high speed motorway and dual carriageway , so 70-90 mph constantly.
My oh my, the Tracer eats long boring stretches of road with ease.

Anyway, arrived at the campsite Saturday evening, around 7 pm, just before dark. Got the tent sorted out (takes about 2 minutes) and got the coffee on the go.

Sunday, race day. Lots of classes to watch, from 1000's to 300's, and there was a ladies race, with all sorts of machinery, even a supermoto (who was riding the wheels off of it!)

Really enjoyed the place, first time I've been to Cadwell Park, and the mountain is insane, watching them fly off the top of it, both wheels off the ground, great stuff.

Best race of the day was definitely the ladies charity race, there are several 15 year old girls that I help out a wee bit, and they had a brilliant scrap all throught the race, never more than a couple of bike lengths between them.

Then spent the rest of the days riding around the area, and reading and sunbathing, 2 days of sunburn! 26c there and 17c at home, ha ha ha!

Looks fantastic, it's good to get out for a break. What do you think of the sheepskin seat pad? (it isn't off that £450,000 sheep is it.

I've had that old sheepskin for about 10 years, and it is brilliant for multiple reasons.
1. I had zero numb bum on the entire ride there and back.
2. It is comfy to put on the ground when sitting around camping.
3. It keeps your backside cool in the heat and warm in the cold.

Definitely not off of a £450000 sheep, can't remember what I paid for it, it wasn't much.

I used an Airhawk seatpad on the last bike for longer runs and the tours that we did and found it really comfortable. I havn't used it on the Tracer yet because of the extra height of the bike but I have missed it on the camping trips because it doubled up as an extra pollow.

Definitely get a wee sheepskin, they are great. I also use it as a pillow, with a shirt wrapped inside it. You would never notice it was there from a riding position perspective, but the comfort level goes through the roof.
(I am not on commission ;) )

Damn it @Stew... you need to leave a little bit of fun for the rest of us to enjoy!  :D

I’ve always been fascinated by Cadwell Park, although I’ve never been there in person.  It would have been fun to ride there before my racing career (stupidly expensive hobby?) wound down.

It is a lovely track, but for spectators it is hard to beat Mallory Park. Super short wee track, but with amazing views for watching. I mean, at the bottom hairpin into the bus-stop you can just about feel the wind displacement from the bikes as they are so close.

Here's a couple more Cadwell photos for you then....
