trevinator
i sometimes have a rattling noise on the left side of my engine under certain circumstances. when im on flat road in 5th at around 32-34mph at light load, the engine makes a rattle sound similar to the injector noise of a direct injection engine, but 10x louder. its loud enough that i hear it over my scorpion exhaust. if it was the right side, i might think cam chain tensioner. anyone experience this before? Is it lurching or chugging? 32-34mph seems WAY slow for 5th gear. Try dropping down 2-3 gears and see how it feels/ sounds. ***2015 Candy Red FJ-09***
trevinator
not lugging at all. its about 3000-3200 rpm when it happens. EDIT: maybe it was 4th gear? i'll have to get it to do it again. Edited October 28, 2020 by trevinator
WKE002
best if can be a pillion and on a parking lot, remove helmet and try to identified the sound while someone riding it. if low speed on high gear, mine sometimes will hear the chain noise, like its coming loose(but its not). nhchris
Under a "light load" might be the primary gear freewheeling between on/off load. Mine does it And if front sprocket is undamped (no rubber insert) it's even louder. Twist throttle a small amount to accelerate and load sprocket. If noise stops then that's what you are hearing. 2 1968 Triumph Bonneville 650 1971 Norton Commando Roadster 2002 Harley 1200 Sportster 2003 Honda ST 1300 2016 FJ
