When this CB4X concept was originally announced I thought this was going to be a naked model, possibly with the CB650 I-4 motor.

Once again at the EICMA show, Honda Motor Europe releases a concept...

Now, 'rumor has it' that there could be a CB1100X for 2022 which appears to be a sport touring model.

Rumors from Japan suggest that Honda might introduce a CB1100X model...

I still think Honda should release the naked 650 model, it looks like a blast for outright hooliganism, but I really like this new CB1100X design, if they could make it full featured like the Tracer 9 GT or Africa Twin (and yes, even offer it in DCT) they could have a winner in the sport touring class. 👍

Anyone else liking this design?

It would definitely go on my list of possible FJ-09 replacements, whenever I get around to that. Right now the Tracer 9 GT is at the top of that list, followed by the S1000XR. The CB1100X concept is very promising.

Unfortunately I don't have a lot of trust in the Honda brand, so I wouldn't even consider this bike until the '23 or '24 model. I know for many folks the Honda brand is synonymous with quality, but do a quick search on, "Africa Twin fuel tank problems." They seem to have a serious, ongoing quality problem with that bike that they won't acknowledge. My personal experience with Honda motorcycles has been pretty dismal, albeit that was all a long time ago.

My experience has been the opposite, I have owned and ridden Honda's (as well as Yamaha's and Kawasaki's) since I was a kid and never experienced any serious issues with any of them, I realize anything is possible but my experience with Honda's (cars, bikes, lawn mowers, power equipment etc.) has been nothing but positive. - thus far.

I agree with waiting a year or two on any new released model but my initial thoughts on this 'rumor' is promising.  I'm definitely going to keep this bike on my radar.

This bike could be a winner . I was a life time Honda owner and they all were excellent and also super reliable. The Yamaha 900 GT won me over with its light weight ,options and of course the great CP3 motor. I was looking at the Honda NC750X ,a nice bike ,but couldn't get over the fact it only put out 47 HP.   So the Tracer got my Vote and no regrets at all. I wouldn't hold my breath for the new Honda . They have a track record of  not putting concept bikes into actual production. Even if it would happen ,I sure the price would be a downer also !

It looks like a twin. I've had a big twin in my Aprilia Caponord and just didn't prefer the thumpy bumpy feeling of it. I'm more a triple or inline 4 guy. As for Honda, I've only had them be ridiculously reliable. Put over 200K on several cars and never once in the shop. YMMV.

Honda could have a good seller UNLESS they fail to sell the bike with factory cruise control.  The lack of cruise control/tubeless wheels on the Africa Twin turned off a lot of buyers/me.  The same lack of cruise control eliminated the VFR1200X from my possible purchase.

If this Honda does show up half baked it will be a sales failure......otherwise, it looks good.

At least they addressed those issues with the latest Africa Twin.

I really wanted to like the VFR1200X (adv bike upright ergos, 1200cc V4 w/shaft drive) but Honda screwed themselves by releasing a bare-bones bike with a premium price tag and then charging extra for everything like center stand, heated grips, side bags etc.

IF they were to bring this to production, I would hope that this model is everything that the VFR1200X SHOULD HAVE BEEN , just with 17" wheels.

I fully acknowledge that my experiences are unusual. My last Honda motorcycle was a 700 Interceptor that was a massive POS, but that was almost 30 years ago. My wife also once had the world's most unreliable Honda Accord. 25 years later and she still breathes fire if anyone utters the accursed "Honda" name in her presence. She wasn't pleased when I bought a Honda-engined lawn mower a few years ago, but it has been excellent thus far.

In fact the lawn mower helped me get over my longstanding grudge. I was seriously interested in the Africa Twin Adventure DCT until I started researching it. These AT fuel tank/fuel pump issues seem to be pretty widespread and Honda isn't doing much about it. I keep reading about people losing months of riding waiting for replacement parts from Honda and thinking, "If I want that experience I'll just buy a KTM."

Yeah, hard to paint an entire manufacturer on personal experience. If that were the case, I would have never touched another Yamaha after the pitiful experience I had with the FJ1200, and all my bikes would be BMW's, based on the (miraculously) trouble free miles on my K1200.  (to be honest, "trouble free miles" excludes those infrequent $4,000 breakdowns...)  😂 😭

I also had a pretty terrible experience with a BMW ('85 K100RS), but I'm not opposed to owning another Beemer at some point. Prior to this FJ-09 my most reliable motorcycle was a Triumph.

My immediate thought upon reading that was "he's got to be talking about the early VFR cams"  :)

I beat the shit out of several CBR600s during my racing career, and never had a hint of trouble.   I realize everyone has their own anecdotal stories to share, but I wouldn't have any reservations about buying a Honda in this day & age.   Granted, I still own an early-model Aprilia, so my tolerance for pain may be slightly elevated.

Yeah, the last straw on my Interceptor was the discovery of chocolate cams during a valve adjustment. Alas that was just one of multiple problems I had with that thing. 😖

But like I said, that was a long, long time ago. The CB1100X is definitely one I'd consider to replace the FJ-09.

I had  a Honda V65 Sabre, rode it to 90k miles, next owner took it to 130k miles. Only thing that stopped him was the U-joint, he didn't want to deal with it. Never any cam problems, simple valve adjustments, I put 1 clutch in it, never had the carbs out, just reliable. The V-four cam issue was hit or miss with Honda, never knew if it was an oiling or hardening problem.

I had a CBR1100XX, 80K miles, reliable as a hammer. Valves never changed clearances since new. ST1300 same. Valves never changed.

Hondas are reliable.

Well, the 'rumor' of Honda's new 1100cc Sport Tourer seems to be confirmed.

Granted, these are still digital renderings but it looks interesting to me.  I'm curious to see the final released product.
