Hogie Posted January 4, 2021 Share Posted January 4, 2021 I picked up my new to me 2020 Tracer 900 GT on Saturday and it hasn’t stopped raining since! Mine is a dealer demo bike with 280 miles on it as literally as new but I got £1500 off list which pleased me immensely . The dealer had installed the factory chain guard and GPS mount . Compared to my old Kawasaki Versys, the owners manual is encyclopaedic so I can spend some time studying and adjusting things I have never used before such as traction control settings, cruise control and heated grips. This will be my long term ‘sensible do everything’ bike as I have a collection of 2 strokes when I need to use a bike for maximum fun. The ‘ new world’ means I now work from home rather than an office so no more commuting, which used to be the majority of my bike miles so I am hoping the Tracer will remain in better condition than my previous commuter bikes. What part of the world are you now? Maybe someone living in your area will meet up with you and go for a ride. I would if you live in northern IN. I have the same problem as I am mostly a fair weather rider and it is too cold here until March. You are going to love the Tracer. It truly is an excellent "do it all" bike. Yeah mine in the garage because of the winter, but mainly because of the salt brine mix they put on the roads here in OHIO. I bought mine from a dealer in Batley in early July and bonded on the 200 mile run home. At least you can sit with it in the garage and bask in the knowledge of a good deal and the anticipation of a fantastic bike when the weather improves. At the slightest hint of inclement winter weather they heavily coat the roads and it makes a real mess of your car. The local car washes probably love it. I think that is what I missed, the chance to bond on the ride home. Due to lockdown I had to do click and collect so bought it with a video walk round/ start up, a bit of a weird experience. I had to collect it in my van as my wife wasn’t free so there was just me and the amount of salt on the van when I got home convinced me I did the right thing not riding it back. Did at one point think I had made a big mistake when I did a section on the M6 the noise and buffeting from the original screen was terrible. First bit of personalisation was a touring screen. Try to think about the anticipation of that first trip out when lockdown and weather improves I know I am thinking about mine. BBB Posted January 6, 2021 Share Posted January 6, 2021 Welcome to the forum @Hogie. It’s probably worth getting something like a CTEK charger for maintaining your battery during the lockdown. Mine has a permanent, fused connector to the battery, that stays under the rear seat. That makes it easy to connect up when you need it. My first Yamaha manual wasn't that long and it was written in two languages. Not one then the other either. It would stop in mid sentence and go into Japanese for awhile before going back into English. LOL!! 1966 was a long time ago. Congratulations on your new bike and welcome to the forum.
