Shakes
Hi all, I have a 2020 Tracer 900 with a Yamaha top box fitted. I already owned Givi monokey side hard luggage so purchased PLXR2139 pannier rails which Givi confirmed as the correct part for the bike. Everything seems correct apart from the arm off the pannier rail doesn’t line up with the bracket on the foot rest. There is no movement to line the connections together without some force. This is under stress when fixed. I’ve been onto Givi and am having difficulty getting this resolved. My question is, has anybody else fitted this part to there bike and have you had issues lining it up ? all help much appreciated Shakes
DDFP_MT09TRA
This may be a silly question, however do you have the correct Givi mounting kit? I know from experience that the MKI tracer (2015-2017 that I have) has different mount points to the later bikes for panniers and as yours is a MKIII, this could be the issue. Sorry I can't help in this particular case, although I can confirm that Givi support is poop. I bought a rear hugger for my MKI tracer last October and it won't fit. I am still hastlng Givi for an answer (3 months later) as to why so I can understand you have issues getting it resolved...
Shakes
Thanks for the reply. Yes it’s the right kit as I got Givi to supply correct part numbers. Tbh , as much as you send videos , pictures and explain the penny doesn’t seem to drop with them that it doesn’t align correctly. I can fabricate it to fit but that will nullify the warranty and don’t feel I should have when I’ve paid a lot of money for a bespoke part. thanks again for your help. BBB
According to this it fits 2018-2019, so implying not 2020 Red 2015 Tracer, UK spec (well, it was until I started messing with it...)
angrygirafe
Probably a different model, but I have the version for my 2016. It has the same problem, but if I attach at the footrest first, and then to the subframe, it pulls into place smoothly with just a turn of the mounting key. Shakes
BBB, strangely the seller has taken down the advert for 2020 models since my complaint to him and Givi 🤔 Angrygiraffe, yup tried that which helps but you have to lean on the bar to get it undone as then under that much pressure Thanks anyway to you both 👍🏻
Shakes
My advice, if buying a Tracer to use with panniers, Get the GT and the Yamaha system. My dealings with Givi and Amy have been nothing short of appalling. I've emailed, phoned, sent videos, photo's detailing the problem and how to correct the issue. There customer is nil. When I enquired which system I needed, they couldn't of been more helpful so purchased on there advice. Since I've been fobbed off, ignored and gone round in circles being asked the same questions over again with no resolution.. Awful service from uncaring staff. Certainly , No recommendations from me
slaphappy
Shakes did you ever fix the issue? I am trying to install the PLR2139 racks to my 2019 Tracer and have the exact same issue. The quick release receiver holes in the front brackets are slightly too low for the bracket to engage.
