Hey everybody,

I have a 2016 FJ09, I had to choose against Tiger800, choice was tough!

I have it for the last 4 years or so!

I really love it, and always try to find a way to put it out of the garage.

Hi Xstoff welcome to the forum, I had booked three test rides, Tiger 800 BMW 850 GS with the Tracer 900 first. mind made up part way through the first test ride choice was easy. The Triumph and BMW test rides got cancelled.Enjoy every mile.

The Tiger800 was definitely a great contender (maybe the next ride ;))!

I tested the F800GS Adventure... I didn't like it, due to the 2 cylinder engine, I really don't like that configuration...

My first ride was a 2010 Kawasaki z750, and I really loved the 4 cylinder engine :)

Hello!

I’ll just piggyback onto this thread, if I may. Just joined, first post, NorCal as well. 2019 GT is enroute, being delivered next week. Can’t wait!

Welcome neighbor! Also, your avatar is missing a zero in its "curves ahead" sign.  Hwy 36 should be the first ride on your GT!

Welcome and you can't beat this triple. Period. You can go for other bikes for reasons of design or widgets or colors or ergos, but when it comes to motors, the 900 just beats them all. And wildly dependable. And thousands of owners so you can fix anything yourself. I live in the great PNW now, but ride down to Berkeley every year for games and friends. Go Bears!

I am planning (hoping) to get down there end of May to ride all of the 'essentials', 96/3/299/36/101, Redwoods down to Fort Bragg and Clear Lake/ Calistoga/ Lake Berryessa area.  I just hope 3 is clear of snow and open by late May.

That's an awesome trip, with so many little variants along the way. Have you done this one? It's particularly fun in the spring, as you have a few water crossings. It's kind of an interesting change of pace:

I haven't been on that road but thanks for the suggestion.  Another excuse to come back and ride Nor. Cal. 👍

I am always trying to discover new roads when I build a road trip route.  I have taken 20 across from Fort Bragg to Yuba Pass so this year I was thinking of trying this route.

That's an excellent way from point A to point B!  The only consideration that I would give is instead of staying on 128 to Cloverdale and up to Hopland, is to take 253 at Boonville and cut over to Ukiah, then down to Hopland.  253 is a hidden gem, with lots of curves and altitude change. The section of road you'd miss is great, but nothing you wouldn't have already ridden. 253 will give you some unique things.

And if this is your first time on 175 between Hopland and Kelseyville you're in for a treat.

I might suggest Hwy 49. If one takes it from Auburn, Ca, south to Oakhurst, it is 175 miles of the most amazing California scenery and roads.
