I believe the stock part number 1RC-13400-00-00 has been superseded by B56-13400-00-00 which I think has the plug to the side. This is the oil pan for the 2016 FJ-09. If somebody with a 2016 model could shoot a picture of the oil pan, we can confirm this new drain plug location. This place has it for only $119.06.
Thats interesting, the bad design of the oil pan has always been a concern of mine. If they've just changed the location of the drain plug, it should easily be able to be retrofitted to earlier models.
Would be even better if they issued a recall for it..... but i wont hold my breath on that.

I wasn't aware they had redesigned the oil pan, do you have a link for some more info on this ?looks like a nothing of a bump! Please keep us updated if Yamaha will cover the damage as a warranty issue. I saw they redesigned the oil pan on the 2017. This seems like recall material to me....

Yes, I noticed the foam spacer and thought at the time, I could get a larger battery in there if I wanted. Whenever I have to replace a battery I always see if I can get a larger ah in the space.
Recently had to replace the standard 8ah battery on my GSX and managed to fit a 10ah in there.

Yup.... forums will do that. Although I'm gonna try not to go mental farkling with this bike like I've done with some bikes in the past. But as the old saying goes.... if its got tits or tyres, it costs ya.

Recently ordered these crash bungs from Ebay..... took about a week to get to me from the Lithuanian seller. Really nice quality for the very cheap price of £33.80 delivered. A fraction of the cost of R&G bungs.
