I found this wind spoiler on eBay for about $30 and thought I would give it a try.  I also have the MRA X-creen 'sport' size spoiler which is 10"x4" and $120.

Universal Motorcycle Risen Adjustable Windscreen Windshield Spoiler Air...

I didn't feel that the MRA spoiler had much of an effect and eventually stopped using it.  This one measures almost an inch taller as well as an inch wider than the MRA.  This one is built very well (it must be assembled and has decent instructions included) and is very sturdy at speed, no perceived movement.  The screen is noticeably thicker and the support arms are beefier than the MRA.  I don't know if it is a pro or con but when the screen locks are undone, they are much looser to adjust the screen position while the MRA is much tighter and requires more effort to adjust, however once it is adjusted and you set the locks then it is very sturdy and secure.  And finally, this one simply works - at least for me - I am 6'-1" and I adjusted it only 1" up from its lowest position and tilted the top of the spoiler more vertical and purposely rode around at 70mph with no ear plugs.   I could still hear wind noise obviously, but it wasnt thunderous or annoying, and with ear plugs like I normally wear, I'm sure it will be very comfortable riding all day long.

At 4x the cost of this screen, I cant recommend the MRA sport size spoiler.

I’m still getting up to speed on windscreens. What windscreen did you install this spoiler on? It’s a good looking screen.

Glad to hear that the adjustment helped you, I set mine to 12 and really like the difference.  On the FZ09 forum, one of the popular options to smooth out the throttle transition is a G2 Throttle Tamer.  It has a cam shaped profile which alters the initial cable pull so it isn't a 1:1 ratio.

That’s an interesting option. Certainly less expensive than a flash. Will try another adjustment then see what happens. Bike is just about what I want as it is now and I’m hoping dropping to 12 or 11 will clean it up further.  Thank you.

  3. Hey folks, just wanted to throw my experience in here. I purchased a 2015 FJ-09 with 1600 miles on it last year and could never get comfortable with the throttle. I read everything here and got sidetracked with a home purchase. Having forgotten about the APS modification I sent the ECU out to Vcyclenut for a flash last month and I was quite disappointed when the flash didn't improve the bike much over stock as far as throttle response and found riding in B mode to be much more in tune with how I like to ride and actually enjoyed the bike. I finally remembered this thread and followed the instructions. In the end I dialed back diag 14 to position 13, and diag 15 to 12. For me this change is what I was hoping to achieve with the flash. I'm not at all sorry for having the flash done, however, the APS change has transformed the bike from B mode being the only enjoyable throttle to STD mode now being what I hoped it always would be. It's still a little aggressive going from off-throttle to on-throttle at high RPM (7k+) and I may dial it back to 12, possibly 11, to see if that clears it up.

All that said, my advice to anyone reading through this thread looking to smooth out the throttle, doing this mod is where you might wanna start before spending any money.

  4. Hi, folks. I purchased a used luggage rack for my 2015 FJ-09 and tried to install it yesterday. The prior owner didn't send along longer bolts for the support arms and I need to know the correct size bolts to get. Any chance someone has an install manual for the luggage rack (Part #2PP-F48D0-V0-00) they could scan for me? Thanks.
