The LEDs are amber and the running lights are dimmer than the blinker. 
...The signals aren't gobsmackingly bright or anything, but they're not quite so weak as the impression this video might give...
 
...Regarding the resistors

Thanks for the video... good thing you explained the brightness thing, because as you note... looks a bit underwhelming. I had to use a 100ohm resistor to mute my RUN light a bit from full bright (it was stupid bright). Are the resistors on the RUN wires? If so, that could be just to tone them down so there's a noticeable difference between RUN and TURN intensity.

Interesting regarding the resistors.  I cut mine out since I assumed they were for controlling the flash rate and had replaced the flasher relay.  I'll keep an eye on them and report back if I have any issues.

Painted OEM panniers with (overpriced) rattle can from ColorRite. Tenere turn signals front and rear. 

Very nice!  Those Tenere signals really do work incredibly well with the FJ.  

Finally got her out for a really nice, long ride over to the Gap and back on Friday.
 

 

 

 
The combination of the Sargent Seat and my gel bicycle shorts worked perfectly - my butt was happy the entire time. The only issue I had was some neck strain from buffeting trying to get back on the interstate at higher speeds.
 
Otherwise I'm basically in love with this bike for back road riding

Nice!  I've been riding with one of those for years now, and I love the system.  The FJ is the 3rd bike that I've used it on and it works great.

Got my Super Tenere signals wired up using OE Yamaha-style connectors from Custom LED.
 
Overall, it was a straightforward job, and I love the look - it really makes the bike look a lot more modern.

Tons of FZ-09's around here, but I don't think I've seen another FJ.

Put on an Akrapovic ti exhaust, Ohlins shock, and the Yamaha heated grips. Now just waiting for it to warm up a bit so I can take her out and do a shake-down run.
 
To anyone doing the shock, I definitely recommend removing the rear tank bolts, allowing the tank to pivot forward - it makes getting to the upper shock mount *much* easier.
