  1. Bad News: I got a flat in the OEM rear tire. Good News: I was 0.2 mile from home. and made it safely there.
Bad News: tire has a very large hole right in the center. Can't be reliably repaired.
Good News: OEM has 5300 miles on it and a few wear bars were touching the road.
Good News: I had a Pilot Road 4 ready.
Good News: Cycle Gear changed my tire, while I waited. Total time from noticing flat on the way home to new tire mounted and back on bike was 1:15.
Good News: Love the PR4. Very nice cornering. I ground the right hand feeler on the test ride without trying.

I was thinking of replacing oem with Pilot Road 4 and after reading what you wrote i am convinced thanks.
  2. So I go to my dealer to get oil for my 600 mile change and they are telling me to use the yamaha full syn race oil inc15/50 ??? Hah? I say? And they say why not ? All the R1 and R6 guys are! Do I really need full synthetic oil? No I say ! So what is everyone  using?? Why spend all that cash??Hmmm?
    I am using Motul 5100 semi-synthetic  10w40.
  3. Message to ebay sellers and others please design and fabricate good quality and easy to install sun shades for our bikes's intrument clusters. I will buy one for shure thanks.
As I posted previously, you can make one yourself in a few minutes.  I probably spent all of 15 minutes making mine, and it would be even less now that I've done a couple of them.
A couple of people have said that I should manufacture and sell them, but what I made isn't quite up to what I'd consider commercial quality (for instance, cuts were made with scissors so they're not perfectly straight), and to make it worth my time I'd have to charge too much for it, and I'd feel bad about that because it's *really* easy to make one.
Thank you jimf for your suggestion
The ABS plastic I used is probably even more susceptible to melting than is the dash display, though.  Of course, it's also a heck of a lot less expensive to replace.

When I get around to making version 2 I'll post a template.

Another thing you could do, rather than adding a sun shade on the cluster, is to either paint or use a strip of contact paper on the lower part of the windshield.  That would stop the lensing effect at its source.

  4. Melted dash. 28-30 Celsius, probably happened at work is my guess. Outside for 8 hour shift. Ermax Touring clear screen:

    >:D :'(

Ahh.  That must have been caused by lensing of sunlight through the windshield.  It may be that the Ermax's shape and the refraction rate of the material was enough, with the sun at just the right angle, to create a good focus.
I've never seen anything like that, crazy.

I have a question about your wheels stripes.
Are they the same color or just plain red ?
Did not find any stripes on EBay with the same color.
    Thanks !
