  1. I just installed some SH36 on my FJ I didn't want to install a bigger top case (im using an SH40) because lane-splitting and filtering can become a trouble but I had to make a trip so I ended installing it the SH36

It seems the SH23 side cases dont make the bike so wide I guess im going to get a pair of SH23 for city use and only use the SH36 for travel.

If your concerned about it at all, install the updated kit from Yamaha - which should include a new bolt for the RH rear of the valve cover (depending on your engine/frame number and year). You’ll need to order the gasket separately

I haven’t seen one of the updated ones fail yet... The kit is around $100 CAD IIRC.

    -Skip

I hear the chain noise now thats why I have this issue in my head, here on my country yamaha service is bad as hell for sure they wont even know about this, by any chance you have the part number of the updated one?

It’s not supposed to be, but if you follow the illustrations posted above to make your own 3mm cut Allen wrench - then you can insert it into the cam chain tensioner and turn it clockwise 1/8-1/4 turn.

I did that but seems I will have to replace the tensioner I wonder if anyone try this one

I just dont want to end making the issue a big trouble instead fixing it, APE dont send stuff to my country sadly.

  4. I got an FJ09 few weeks ago from a guy that sold it cause he want to travel, I love this bike but is not a gentle bike the FJ09 is more sport than anything else, thats why that guy sold it because is to agreesive for him.... Im not an offroad guy and once a said that im looking for more ground clearance I may get some stuff from lust racing I used that on my supertenere (suspension bones) and I will look maybe for something for the front suspension, for my needs the supertenere is to bulky and heavy the FJ09 is the perfect size but the ground clearance is to low,

Not necessarily.  I read many different motorcycle forums for Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki and one of the most hotly debated accessory you can buy for your bike, or ANY bike is a wind screen because it is so subjective.  Just read through the hundreds of posts on wind screens and you will find that everyone likes something different, even those who are the same height have different opinions and it can be an expensive journey finding what works for YOU.

One thing to know is that the windscreen CAUSES the turbulence and noise, next time you ride your bike on the highway get up to a common cruising speed-75-80 and stand up out of the blast of the screen for a few seconds and see how smooth and quieter the air is, or swap bikes with a buddy who has a naked bike and prepare for a revelation and see how quickly your buddy complains how loud your bike is with a wind screen.

I had the long one from yamaha, beside how it looks i feel some wobbling over 70mph and wind protection is not the best thats why im looking in the vstream option

So, an update on my previous post. After riding with the new clip-on screen for a two weeks I felt it was good, but mainly for non-highway tours or short rides on the highway. Although I try to avoid highway (boring and too much noise), sometimes the highway is the fastest way to get to a destination....

So I went back to the dealer where I tried the Puig screen. He had a National Cycle Vstream Touring screen in stock and allowed me to take a test ride with it. First impression: less wobbly than the large Puig screen, better air flow but still a bit to much turbulence around the helmet. I then fixed my clip-on screen on top of the Vstream. Just one word: WOW!

I can drive up to 130km/h (80+ miles) with the visor open. 150+ km/h and I can still make a phone call or listen to music with my Sena headset. Actually, I wanted to test the noise level so I called my wife while going 130km/h with the visor open. I could still hear her and she didn't notice any noise. I am really happy about the screen combination.

So, I bought the screen and the dealer will send my original screen to my home address (doesn't fit in the panniers unless I fold it:-).

There is a bit of a downside too. With the screen in the upper position and the clip-on almost completely up, the airflow is perfect but I'm looking just over the edge of the screens (but still in comfortable riding position). And in the summer, the lack of wind on my body might becoming a bit hot.

However, the good news is that I can hear the motor now instead of the wind. And for non-highway tours in the summer I can still mount the original Yamaha screen (with/without the clip-on). I also tried the smaller Vstream sport/tour screen with the Puig clip-on but that was more noisy and gave worse airflow than my original screen.

The 1,5 hour ride home (90% highway) was a delight! So much better than the ride to the store....

For those who wonder: I'm 6,1 tall and always wear Alpine custom made ear protection.

I was looking for info about this windscreen from vstream, sport touring if i got it right even on the hight position helmet beffering wont go away unless you add a clip aka deflector.

If i got this right... The best option for me will be the biggest version of vstream since im about the same hight as you, but the mid size plus a clip doesnt sound bad since clip can be gone for urban use

@Seetth, that code is “intake air pressure sensor”, shown in the list above. It probably means that you disturbed something during your throttle body synch, or left something off. It may be worth clearing the code and if it comes back, going back under the tank and checking around where you did the work.

I will have to take apart the bike again to double check specially the sensors, how do we clear the codes on the dashboard I already try the link that was posted somewhere on this forums but the link doesn't work, thanks for answer

I had to remove this one for access more easy the cap in that throttle body maybe that is my issue funny that the bike runs great

  8. Hello I have an FJ09 2016, I did maintenance today and sync the throttle bodies with some gauges the bike feals great again but even when the bike runs great I got a check engine light and no problems at all in all my way back home, once I arrive home I turn the key to off position and turn it on again, the right displays shows "0013" the bike runs smooth  and with all the power, I searched on this forum and over google and I found nothing about it, any idea about this 0013

    Thanks in advance.
