  1. Most of the stuff about tyres is in your head. I think I am repeating what someone else said, you had a bad experience with a Pirelli tyre that put you off them. If you think about all of the variables: was the road dry for a period before it rained; had a farmer spread something nasty from his slurry tank on the road; had a truck spilled diesel on the corner; did a reflection mean you missed the patch of gravel? Was it really the fault of the tyre?
I don't believe there are any really bad tyres nowadays from Avon, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Michelin, Dunlop, Metzeler and Continental. Most of the problems will be from our own making (wrong tyre for the bike, wrong pressure, badly adjusted suspension, ill judged cornering); or from cheap suspension; or from poorly maintained or contaminated roads.

It's easy to blame the tyres and a new one always feels better than a worn one, even if you stick to the same make.
Tires (Tyres...olde English) and brakes deserve no compromise, particularly wrt bikes, and several of the brands listed won't find their way on to anything that I ride or drive. They are not all created equal. Lord Avon...wasn't he a friend of  Lord Lucas - Prince of Darkness?
  2. Wow - a 5.42 gf/cm^2 times less pressure in and about the area of the helmet. While Im not sure about the units of pressure / force, anything 5x less has to be an improvement.
Would love to know your thoughts on the windshield when you get it installed.

Looks like it does a great job of cutting off air flow to the helmet. Not a good idea here in NC in the summer.
  3. Mine came set at 5.5 rings showing from the dealer and the lowest that the front end dives is 1.5 inches from full bottom with a 175 Lbs. rider. My rebound damping was set at 7 clicks from the full 'soft' setting and I have increased that to 10 to eliminate pogoing. I tend to sit as far forward as possible, much like a dirt bike, and can easily hit over 100 mph without any head shake. Haven't tried running with bags yet, but I'm sure that they induce instability. Not too many MotoGP bikes have a top box.  Was riding a ZRX1200R, which would shake, rattle and roll at 120 mph regardless of set-up.
  4. WP_20150721_006_zpsejjt6tql.jpg~originalBought a Bell Star Carbon RSD Sway helmet last week. Very impressed with fit and finish and outstanding ventilation. Compares well with my very old Arai RX-7 RR4. I'm an XL (61 cm) and they run a little on the large side, so I am going to try replacing the 45 mm cheek pads with 50 mm for a more snug fit.
