  1. Thanks for all the replies! I previously had a Kawasaki klr 650 and the fan was very loud and ran for a bit after you shut the bike off. My guess is the fan never ran from day one as i’ve Never heard it. I will start checking, starting with easy and going from there.
  2. I have a 2015 FJ-09 with about 11k miles. It has overheated twice, once in traffic riding 2 up. The outside temp was about 90 F. The other time riding in a state forest, 2 up, ambient temp about the same. I have never heard the fan run. Can you hear the fan run on this bike?
  3. Thanks for all your replies. Going from Connecticut to TN via Skyline Drive, Blueridge Parkway, Tail of the dragon, cherohala skyway over to Nashville and then to Loretta Lynn's in Hurricane Mills to visit my son. Like the song says what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Can't wait.
  4. I'm am going on an extended trip in a couple of weeks and wanted to know if anyone has used the Air Hawk Cushion Seat or the Bike Cushion on their FJ-09. I like the stock seat, but after about 3 hours I'm starting to get pretty uncomfortable. I see both of these brands advertised with excellent reviews. I would most likely only use this seat once or twice a year when traveling 4 to 500 miles (my limit) in a day. Any comments would be appreciated, thank you.
  5. Thanks for all the feedback! I was was concerned when I first bought the bike(new) that some of the set-up was poor i.e clutch cable was adjusted uneven completely extended on lever side, shift lever was too high etc. As suggested I will be doing the work myself using an OEM filter with Yamalube and documenting everything. I have another dealer locally who can do the throttle body syn. Love this bike, can't wait till spring to stretch those rpm's out past 6k.
  6. I bought my FJ-09 late last fall, it's now due for the first oil change and service. The dealer estimated the cost at $300. He also told me that unless the dealership did the first service Yamaha wouldn't honor the warranty. My son and I have been involved in motocross for years and I have rebuilt bikes and motors many times. I prefer to do my own work, but I am concerned about any loss of warranty. Is $300 reasonable for the first service? Any comments would be appreciated as this sounds a little sketchy to me.
