  1. I put it away before the battery went dead.  The battery went dead over the winter storage.  I didn't ride it enough.  I changed it, started and let it run, and then rode it about a week or so later. that's when the light came on.

  2. So, I just checked my 17 FJ09 and got a code of P2138 and beside it showed $07E8.  Throttle / Pedal Position Sensor / Switch D / E Voltage Correlation.  I didn't do anything to the bike except change the battery, and let it sit most of the winter.  I am googling also, but wanted to  see what you all thought. I am not sure what would cause this.

Ok. Because you have a 2017 you’ll need to get the code erased at the dealer, or with a generic OBDII Automotive code reader and an adapter cable to go from the OBDII reader connector to the white Yamaha 4P diagnostic connector.

You can try the key cycle/“light go away” method, the code is still in history and can be viewed later. Only certain malfunctions will allow the MIL light to go away this way however.

Thank you Skip, Can you explain what the key cycle/"light go away" is?  hehe  I will try that. The dealer is closed today due to the holiday so I can't go in.  is there a risk of riding it with the light on until I can get in there?

Are there any error codes displayed on the right screen?

None That I can see.  is it on the main right screen or one of the sub screens..
edit. I just scrolled through all the screens, and don't see any codes.

  5. Yes I have searched and found many, but none relating to my issue.  If there is one, I am sorry I didn't find it.

I have 2017 FJ09.  8k miles, all maintenance done at dealer so far since under warranty. Over the winter, My battery died, and would not charge, so I bought a new battery.  I had emptied the gas tank so there was no gas in the tank.  I changed the battery about a month ago, and have had it on a maintainer since.  I filled it up today with 93 fuel, and went for a ride.  I didn't notice utnil about 20 minutes in that my check engine light is on.

It is running great, and can't tell any difference in idle, acceleration, or cruising at all from last fall.  I have read a few other places that this could be from the battery change and could disappear after a couple cycles of heating up the bike, and it cooling down, so a couple of rides, but I didn't know if anyone else had experience with this.

  6. I haven't owned a bike in quite a while so figured I would buy myself some time learning how to work on the bike with the maintenance package and extended warranty.  Yes I know they are overpriced, and went in knowing that but negotiated what I felt was an acceptable price.  Now, unfortunately,  I am looking at selling my FJ and wanted to know from others who have sold/bought used bikes the value that can be placed on extended/maintenance warranties in the price of the bike you are selling.  yes I know I will have to sell locally to my area, and appreciate any advice you guys can give me.  you are the experts here. :)

I don't know how you feel about filtering at lights, but I wish it would be formally legalized everywhere (even if separate from lane splitting).  Stop lights are one of the more risky places for a motorcycle to be hanging around.

I couldn't agree more.  I don't care for lane splitting, but filtering at lights would be awesome.  I don't do it simply because I don't want a ticket, but I do pull to one side or the other of the car in front of me so if someone comes from behind, they don't hit me full on, maybe(hopefully) just a graze, or they miss me all together.

  8. surprisingly my commute was pretty quiet yesterday.  was on 285 loop in Atlanta at 3pm and didn't have any serious issues.  my issue came Sunday evening returning for the parts store, and a little silver honda merged over into my lane.  Silver lining, the guy saw me last minute, swerved back into his lane, and immediately started waiving apologies...so there are some decent human being left, just not many... I had to have been in his blind spot moving up as he wasn't on his phone that I could tell.

Depending on your stats and what you're looking for, I find the Puig sport works well for me.  Nice clean wind and no buffeting for this guy anymore.  Still think I will pick up a Puig touring for any looooong tours, but I'm happy with the fresh air.

I will look into that, and looking into a touring screen as well, for the longer trips.

  10. so I am late to this topic.  I have the 70ST and love it.  I thought it was very loud when I first got it(at same time as FJ), but after this forum, and doing some test figured out quickly it is the buffeting coming from the stock wind screen.  looking for a new screen now...

Hey I use the Yamaha 50L top case to commute to work.

I pack my laptop and lunch into a laptop bag and put the whole thing in the 50L case. When I get to work I leave the case on the bike and just carry in my laptop bag.

Pretty much this but mine is the givi 47L hard case, tech edition.  my laptop back(filled with laptop, shoes, cables, etc, and my lunch will fit in that thing.  I rarely take that off my bike.

  12. not sure if this should go here or in the pics/videos section so feel free to move.  I did search and didn't find a thread like this, so if I am duplicating I do apologize.

I am looking for alternatives(less expensive) than gopro.  I am hoping some of you use no name action cameras and like them enough to share them here.

This holder can be installed with any windshield. Very easy to fit! | eBay!

Mine is a 2015 FJ09. Don't think it fits the new Tracer or Tracer GT. This has worked well for me over the last year.

I have this on my FJ as well and love it.  very solid.  I am always open to new farkle though....
