So, pulled out my Haynes for my tracer and been looking at the wiring diagram.

For the wheel, it shows a N/O switch with one wire that goes to a dash connetor, the other looks like going to a ground. It looks like it provides a ground to the dash when  pressed.

It appears the rotation of the wheel controls 12vdc to the dash for menu selection using    other wires.

So I also dove into the schematic and I think I concur with your assessment i.e. 80 on the following schematic screen shot appears to be the wheel switch (81 being the roller wheel forwards/backwards) and a momentary short of White/Blue wire to Black wire should mimic the wheel press.

Nice idea…..if I was to do it, I would make by connection in the harness and not mess with the swich. A good wiring diagram will show you where.

I assumed that the wheel press switch may be integrated into a PCB vs. having separate wires coming off it.  If it's the latter, then it's a piece of cake to resolve this properly with a separate momentary button.  Anyone know the details of the wiring coming off the wheel switch?

  3. For me the wheel works fine but the push to select or change a setting is the fiddly part.  If it's simply a momentary contact closure that's needed, couldn't we just add a separate button?  Has anyone disassembled the switch enough to determine if there's a way to solder in an external momentary switch in place of the wheel press? i.e. leaving the roller part of the switch functional but adding a momentary button that is guaranteed to work as needed?

I think you may be able to get them from Japan. Here's a site that says they have them in stock.

Good luck on trying to find these brackets

Thanks for the link but wow, nearly double the price of the Yamaha originals!  Will have to think on this a bit.  I also plan on changing the pegs so maybe I'll try that first and see if it makes it more tolerable.

  5. As per this thread, I ordered the 2PP-F84G0-V0-00 mounts (that provide more foot-room) from Revzilla back in December.  I followed up on the order today and they tell me Yamaha has discontinued the part.  Anyone got a pair they want to sell or know of another solution?

Not sure if you are referring to Yamaha parts for the side cases, or after market.

I have installed the side case supports for the 2018 FJ-09 on the 2019 T900GT successfully. It works out perfectly for the 2019 T900GT side cases, and it improves the horrendous foot crowding problem of the stock T900GT given the pilot foot peg to passenger foot peg distance. It changes the pilot's foot clearance from ~7.5" to ~9". IMO that is still a little crowded, but I expect I'll get used to it with my US 9 size feet. I can get on the balls of my feet now.

I may leave it with no passenger foot pegs, or add 2018 FJ-09 passenger pegs, or even try FZ-09 pegs.

I'd to do this as well on my T900GT - Any chance you have a part number for the brackets?  Where did you source yours?
