OK, like, I'm going to accept that we need three software endpoints (bike, MRL, GM) and two/three different comm channels (bt, wifi, maybe USB). OK, that's probably the only way Yamaha could get Garmin to cooperate on a build. BUT, this is not a delightful experience for a new user. Bad enough that the MRL app hasn't been updated in a year, but even the TUTORIAL is broken (bad page link from p6 to p7, so you can't finish. laughingnotlaughing.) Sadly, I had it working ONCE. Upon second attempt, total fail. Simple first question: If you use this daily, what is your "start up sequence" that is repeatable and dependable. I can't debug this thing over and over... …

2024 Tracer9 GT+ Had 3000 mi on my bike took it in for the TPS and ECU replacement and reprogramming. About 60 mi later a UBS (unified braking system)and ABS warning lights came on and cruise control stopped working. The bike has been in the shop going on three weeks. Great mechanic communication with Japan and no results. Any similar situations out there?

Looks like I’ll be getting another recall letter from Yamaha for my USA T9 in the near future. This link shows Germany as the affected country however since I’m a curious guy I contacted my dealer about it. Here’s what I was told; Yamaha has released a recall notice to owners of XSR900, MT09, Tracer GT and MT10 owners regarding faulty ECU programming that can cause damage to the TPS. They are working on a repair for it and once it is release we will contact owners and get you taken care of! I believe this will be the 3rd reflash of my ECU😃! https://www.visordown.com/news/injection-system-problem-leads-mass-yamaha-recall-germany

So, I'm three months and about 6,000 miles into ownership of a new 2022 Tracer 9 GT. Great bike, except for the suspension, IMHO. First a short pre-amble: I've been riding for more than 55 years, raced both on and off road, instructed professionally with a race school for almost 30 years, have owned more than 50 bikes, including brand new in the last few years a KTM 690 Duke, a Ducati Multistrada V2S and a BMW F900XR before getting this Yamaha. My annual average is about 15,000 miles. So, I'm far from a rookie motorcyclist. The Tracer 9 GT is a really nice bike, except for the suspension, specifically the dampening. Compression dampening is much too stiff, …

I alluded in my post about engine lights the other day that I thought I'd caused it while trying to get my Inovv power hub 3 working. I had one on my FJR, installed it myself, no issues. Had one on my R1200GSA, installed it myself, no problems. On my Tracer, however… Obviously I’m setting it up using a trigger wire. Always have done with no issues. I can get it to turn on with a trigger wire, but the bloody thing won’t turn off again. I’ve tried rear light, accessory socket, fan fuse, main fuse, every bloody fuse I can find, but it won’t turn off. Anyone have any ideas at all, because I have no hair to tear out and I’m frightened for my scalp!?

TL;DR - Any suggestions for alternative (smaller) handguards for the 24 Tracer GT? I just picked up a 2024 900 GT (RN70K - with the fugly split screens) and one problem I've encountered is that the hand guards are just too big to allow me to get the bike easily into my back garden, away from prying thieving eyes (my MT10SP was stolen a couple of months back, so I'm a little paranoid). I'm wondering if anyone has replaced the hand guards on this model with something a little smaller and can suggest an alternative? I tried removing them altogether, but the front brake fluid reservoir sits on the right hand guard mount (and I think it looks a little ugly without them). W…

I see a lot of discussion around Garmin Motorize, MyRide, Xumos, the very expensive DMD-T865X, etc. Now, while I have long advocated for specialized devices, I think I'm changing my mind. So, I'm curious as to whether others in this esteemed forum are thinking the same way or not. I originally advocated for specialized devices over smartphones mainly because smartphones were quite lacking. They tended to get destroyed due to vibrations, their multi-purpose nature meant that sometimes you'd get annoying pop-ups at the most inconvenient of times (such as temperature warnings) and the earlier navigation apps needed connectivity to fetch map details. All that has changed du…

Hiya. I have a check engine light on my 2019 900 gt after trying to get my Inovv power hub set up (don’t ask). Is there a way to access service mode or something similar to see what the fault is an possibly clear it? I don’t really want to go to a dealer for this. TIA

Well after just shy of 2 years I have sadly parted with my beloved 2019 Tracer 900 GT, having traded it yesterday on a 2023 Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro. I have learned much on this Forum about the Tracers, and while I too look forward to seeing what the new T9GT+ will be in the flesh, I have decided to change direction on my second bike a little ... more toward the offroad side. Riding the two bikes back to bad as I did yesterday, the Tracer triple is still sublime, and I will miss that smoothness in its nature especially on long distance trips. The Triumph triple is quite different and will take getting used to. Anyway, that's it for now. I expect that my Tracer wil…

I've never seen this before, in fact have been told to never do this, but here it is in the service manual: put grease on the threads of the rear axle nut. Do we have a disgruntled engineer putting the manual together, or should I do this?

I hope this is in the correct group. It's an esoteric question, and the local Yamashop had no idea how to answer it. This instrument cluster on this bike has heaps of information on the left and the right side. On the right side, there are 3 slots, and you can go into the menus and into settings, and find the spot to set the 3 information displays on the right. On the left, there are many other settings, and you can move any of those 'many' over to the right side into the 3 slots available. That in the manual, and it's fairly easy to work with, but that is NOT my question! On the LEFT side, you can scroll through the different information displays. What I want to d…

Coming up on the 26k mile service and was to rebuild the front forks while the bike is torn apart. According to this memo (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2022/MC-10219656-0001.pdf) and the service manual, i need the 4 tools listed. Questions: 1. Will the universal spring compressors work or is this plate style compressor required? (https://www.amazon.com/Potormotor-Compressor-Cartridge-50cc-1300cc-Motorcycle/dp/B0C1FFNP7Q) 2. The 18.5mm damping rod holder seems specific to these forks. Is there an alternative that isn't $100? I can only find 16.5, 14, 12, and 10mm rod holders in the universal tool kits.

I ordered some EBC front and rear HH sintered pads and 90* angled valve stems for the bike tonight. My original pads still have plenty of life but compared to the other bikes I've owned (FZ6 and Ninja 1000) they are weak feeling. To the point that from day 1 of owning the T9gt, my non-expert self could tell a difference.

Cuz I need some new rubber, and that sounds far more appealing then talking WWIII, eh. So don't bother mentioning Battleax, meh... yeah they were bargain bin units from cycle gear, but no, me no like, nor the OEM Dunflops; ran Conti Road Attack 3, decent but rear wore out real fast. What ya all like for good grip and decent mileage?

Has anyone lowered their bike by as much as 1.5 - 2 inches (40 - 50mm) or perhaps even more? I am wondering if I can get the seat height low enough for my wife - down around 30 inches or 770mm. Thanks.

Howdy folks, I'm wondering if anyone on here is using bar risers on their T9GT+. And if so, were there any modifications necessary for clutch/brake cables?

A friend kept insisting I ride his Multistrada V4 RS. I don't usually ride other people's bikes because I do not want to be responsible for them if anything goes wrong. But I decided to take him up on that offer since it is such a high-end machine and I wanted to feel that V4 motor!! I also wanted to learn what that price tag gets you compared to my Tracer. (Worth noting is that I have a Penske three way shock, AK-20 fork cartridges and Ivan's ECU flash) For an MSRP of $37,995, it does not include heated grips, hard bags or a center stand. I thought it should at least have the bags for that kind of money!! Picking the bike up off the side stand, you can feel it is…

Hey riders, I took my recently purchased Tracer 900GT out on the country roads where I live for a couple of hours. When I rode back into town, my engine just died. No, I didn't hit the ignition switch while traveling 40 mph. I found a small patch off to the shoulder of the road, put the bike in neutral, and started the engine again with no problem. Has anyone experienced this issue before?

Anyone found a suitable steering damper for Tracer 9 (mine is year 2021)? I did found some options for MT-09 gen 3 like this one https://www.motodracing.com/matris-yamaha-mt-09-steering-damper-sport-2021 but nothing specific to Tracer 9. The bracket is secured to the fuel tank. Also found Hyperpro https://webshop-hyperpro.com/product/steering-damper-68mm-rsc-dark-edition/ but this one is mounted on the forks

I ordered some parts to mount a Yamaha Top Case on my Tracer 9GT+. A few weeks after I ordered I was informed the Yamaha 39L Top Case was no longer available however I did receive the mount and rekeyable lock. What other cases will fit this mount?

Hi. The Tracer 9 GT+ has its 600 mile service on the 19th and I am noticing some mild popping on the overrun. Presumably unburnt fuel in the exhaust system? Does yours do that as standard. My mate has the same model and his doesn't! Just wondering if I should mention it at the service. What do you think?

Hello hive mind I just traded my '21 in on a 2024 GT+ We all know that Yamaha hasn't graced these bikes with a miles to empty or "Range" for fuel consumption. On top of that there is the infamous "I have a full tank" to "nope, half the fuel gauge just vanished" On my 2019 and 2021 Tracers, I used to leverage the litres consumed to give me a rough idea how much was actually left in the tank. The 2024 GT+ doesn't even seem to have that option - only average fuel consumed or real time fuel consumption (which literally changes as you twist the throttle). There is a separate trip meter that kicks in once you are on Reserve, but who wants to wait for that? Am I missing som…
