Russell has a sport option that is not quite as wide, but if you are going to spend big bucks on a Russell seat, why not get the more comfortable version? Nah just too damn ugly and old man looking, plus I find my Bagster seat to be very good looking and very comfortable as well. I think the 21 and up Tracer is a bit fugly, but the original FJ and Tracer 900 GT look quite pleasing.
foxtrot722
Thanks for all the information, I just received a comfort seat set from someone on here that had it for sale. received and looked brand new. Looking forward to a test ride. I'm still experimenting on the seat mod. I stacked the washers and liked the outcome. Now I'm seeing what I can come up with for a permanent solution. I just purchased a 2020 900 GT with 1400 miles on it. That is what the comfort seat is going on. I also have my eye on a Corbin that is lightly used. I still have my 2015 FJ09 with about 18K on it. Added Terry's seat, side bags, heated grips, and top case. 1970 DT-250 / 1972 250MX / 1973 360MX / 1974 250MX & 1974 CZ 400 Red Frame & SC 500 / 1978 YZ 250 / 1979 YZ250 / (2) 1980 YZ 250 / 1986 YZ 490 / 1989 YZ250 WR / 1994 YZ 250 / (2) 2002 YZ 426 / 2007 YZ 450 / 2007 DR 650, 2015 FJ 09 / 2020 YZ
draco_1967
I have a JK3D kit I pulled of my bike (built a custom seat that eliminates the stock seat forward slope) that you can have. I hate to throw it away, if there is someone who could use it.

gerrychuck
I have been happy with my Corbin. Can't compare it to Russell or some of the customs, but I found it a huge difference over stock. Corbin works by improved weight distribution as opposed to being cushy. Some people don't care for the firmness, but I've had good results on long rides with the combo of the Corbin and Winx motorcycle shorts (which I have found much better than bicycle shorts which I used previously).
Ride365
I have owned 3 Corbins on 3 different bikes, and I can attest to the Bagster being superior in every way "IMHO", plus it got rid of the forward lean and pressure towards the tank.
Yaman
I carved out some foam in the seat and put in 2cm gel pad and some extra padding at the front , I just got home from a 2hour trip and it is better, a bit on the firm side but i think its because the gel is cold . I have 2 sets of seats so i can swap to see what i like best.
foxtrot722
Just took the first ride with a comfort seat and seat mod. raised the front 3/4. Rode 150 miles, much better than stock. 1970 DT-250 / 1972 250MX / 1973 360MX / 1974 250MX & 1974 CZ 400 Red Frame & SC 500 / 1978 YZ 250 / 1979 YZ250 / (2) 1980 YZ 250 / 1986 YZ 490 / 1989 YZ250 WR / 1994 YZ 250 / (2) 2002 YZ 426 / 2007 YZ 450 / 2007 DR 650, 2015 FJ 09 / 2020 YZ

I just purchased a 2020 900GT with 1400 miles on it. I was looking for an upgrade to my 2015 FJ09. I updated the seat on the FJ with a Terry custom seat. It was an improvement, but I'm looking for a little more. I'll be using the Tracer as a street cruiser. Often, I ride 300 mile rides for a day ride. I'm 6' and 220 lbs I don't have any experience with the Yamaha comfort seat. Is there much of an inprovement over stock? I have seen a few used ones listed for about $200.00 I looked at the web page for Corbin & Sargent. Both look nice, but you don't really know unless you sit on the seat. They start at about $650.00 Please offer your thoughts, comments and suggestions. Thanks, David I have the Corbin seat and have no issues with it. I think the stock seat was more comfortable for short rides around town. I didn't have the issue other people had with it tilting you forward. But with the Corbin I did. I road right on my Gooch and it wasn't nice. I bought the seat slope mod and it turns out that was waste of money. I don't have torque wrenches so I kept putting off the mod because you have to remove the tank. So I recently put the piece back to raise the seat and it helped. Also, I couldn't tell a difference at all in seat height. Which I thought was weird. Anyway I have the seat slope mod unopened and unused. Waste if money. If anyone wants to buy it let me know. Plus it made a big difference in not sliding forward. Sorry you feel it’s a waste of money, couldn’t disagree more.

That doesn't sound right at all "torque wrench and tank removal", and you are certainly in the minority with this mod. What model year Tracer do you have, and the height difference on my 20 is very apparent between low/high, and my Bagster seat fixed the slope of the OEM so I no longer use the seat slope mod kit. It's a 2022. The tank has torque specs.
OZVFR
On the earlier bikes you don’t remove the height adjustment plate from under the seat. It stays there for both high and low settings, you just move it to the right position. I’m guessing it’s the same for the later ones. And wanting to torque the tank bolts is over the top, every bolt on a bike has torque specs, most of them are ignored if you have common sense.

While every fastener has torque specs, that doesn’t mean you can’t loosen up a non-critical, non-load bearing fastener and tighten it back to the same feel. An electrical wall plate has a torque spec but you’ll never see an electrician grab a torque wrench to put one on.

It worked like magic for me after spending a fortune on a seat rebuild that didn’t work. jk3d.us I put one of these on my 2022 T9gt with the factory seat and it made a world of difference for me. I'm 6'1" and 235lbs. I was looking at custom seats and decided to try this mod before I spent the money on a new seat. The levelling kit and a few hundred miles to break the seat in were all it took. If you're considering a new custom seat I suggest spending a small amount to try this kit and give the factory seat time to break in. It saved me a few hundred bucks.
