Hello everyone, just wanted to ask a question about the ambient temperature reading on the bike. All's been good with the bike and I just did an oil change yesterday with Motul 300V 10w40. I have the service record from the previous owner that shows its been done with "10w40 mineral oil" previously for reference if that makes a difference. All seemed fine throughout the day yesterday.
Its been about 85-90°F outside today and I was riding around town running some errands and all seemed find until near the end of the day. Ambient temperature seemed to be showing a bit high but I figured maybe I was in a hot area. Coolant temperature also seemed a tad higher than usual but I put it off with the weather or maybe I'm riding it harder since I'm getting more comfortable with the bike. I just went out a few minutes ago and its definitely cooler, maybe around 75-80°F MAX but the ambient temperature is reading as 91°F. I figure the thermometer/sensor isn't very accurate but it's been within reason since I've gotten the bike, until today it seems.
Is the thermometer anywhere near the engine so that the heat coming off of there might affect the ambient temperature reading if its too hot?
Is it just a busted thermometer/sensor that happened to malfunction today?
Is there a transition period when switching from mineral to synthetic?
Main question is: can the ambient temperature reading at all be attributed to possibly doing the oil change wrong? Doesn't seem like it and I might be overthinking here, just wanted to know what you guys think.
Thanks in advance.
Unrelated note: I think I spent WAY too much time trying to get the oil level just right.
